4. Setup

4.1 Power Connection

Connect the provided power cable to the oscilloscope's power input and then to a suitable AC power outlet. The DHO924S also supports Type-C power, allowing for portable operation using a compatible power bank.

4.2 Probe Connection

Connect the oscilloscope probes to the BNC input connectors on the front panel. Ensure a secure connection. For accurate measurements, it is crucial to properly compensate the probes using the tool provided in the probe kit.

4.3 Interface Connections

The DHO924S offers various interfaces for connectivity and external display:

  • USB Device & Host: For connecting to a computer or external storage devices.
  • LAN: For network connectivity and remote control.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Powering On/Off

Press the power button located on the front panel to turn the oscilloscope on or off. Allow a few moments for the system to boot up completely.

5.2 Navigating the Touchscreen Interface

The DHO924S is equipped with a 7-inch high-definition touchscreen, providing an intuitive interface for controlling the device. You can interact directly with the display for settings, measurements, and waveform manipulation. The new Flex knob also offers an alternative, user-friendly method for adjustments.

5.3 Basic Waveform Display and Controls

To quickly display a stable waveform, connect a signal to an input channel and press the AUTO button. This automatically adjusts the vertical and horizontal settings. Use the dedicated vertical (POSITION, SCALE) and horizontal (POSITION, SCALE) controls to fine-tune the waveform display. The Flex knob can also be used for precise adjustments.

5.4 Measurements and Analysis

The oscilloscope offers various measurement functions (e.g., voltage, frequency, period) and analysis tools (e.g., FFT, histograms). Access these features through the touchscreen menu or dedicated buttons like Measure and Analyse. The waveform search and navigation function helps in quickly identifying specific signal abnormalities within long acquisitions.

6. Maintenance

6.1 Cleaning

To clean the oscilloscope, use a soft, damp cloth. Avoid using abrasive cleaners or solvents that could damage the casing or screen. Ensure the device is powered off and disconnected from the power source before cleaning.

6.2 Storage

When not in use, store the oscilloscope in a dry, dust-free environment, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Protect the screen and connectors from physical damage.

7. Troubleshooting

7.1 No Power

  • Ensure the power cable is securely connected to both the oscilloscope and the power outlet.
  • Verify that the power outlet is functional.
  • If using Type-C power, ensure the power bank is adequately charged and compatible.

7.2 No Waveform Display

  • Check that probes are correctly connected to the input channels and the signal source.
  • Press the AUTO button to automatically adjust settings.
  • Verify the input signal is within the oscilloscope's vertical sensitivity range.
  • Adjust the vertical (SCALE) and horizontal (SCALE) settings manually.

7.3 Unresponsive Touchscreen

  • Ensure the screen is clean and free from debris.
  • Restart the oscilloscope.
  • If the issue persists, contact RIGOL customer support.
