The M-601 integrates an FM radio, audio player, and digital recorder, featuring Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity and a USB-C input. Please read this manual thoroughly before use to ensure proper functionality and longevity of the device.
2. Safety Information
- Do not expose the device to extreme temperatures, direct sunlight, or high humidity.

4.1. Controls and Ports
- Power Button (⏻): Press and hold to power on/off.
- FM Button: Switches to FM radio mode.
- SD Button: Switches to Micro SD card playback mode.
- BT Button: Switches to Bluetooth mode.
- Display Button: Toggles display information.
- REC Button (●): Initiates recording.
- MEM Button: Accesses memory functions for FM stations.
- ALARM Button: Sets and activates the alarm.
- TIME Button: Sets the current time.
- Volume Up/Down (VOL +/-): Adjusts audio volume.
- Play/Pause/Skip Buttons: Controls audio playback (play, pause, next track, previous track).

5. Setup
5.1. Charging the Battery
The Tecsun M-601 is powered by a built-in 3.7V / 2500mAh Li-ion battery. Before first use, fully charge the device.
- Connect the provided USB-C charging cable to the USB-C port on the side of the M-601.
- Connect the other end of the USB-C cable to a standard USB power adapter (DC 5V, 1000mA, not included) or a computer's USB port.
- The charging indicator on the display will show charging status. It will typically turn off or change color when fully charged.
Note: The device can also be powered directly via the USB-C connection without a battery, or while the battery is charging.
5.2. Inserting a Micro SD Card
To use the audio player or recording functions, a Micro SD card (not included) is required.
- Locate the Micro SD card slot on the top edge of the device (refer to Figure 4.3).
- Gently insert the Micro SD card into the slot with the gold contacts facing down until it clicks into place.
- To remove, gently push the card inward until it clicks, then release, and it will eject.
Note: The M-601 supports Micro SD cards up to 128GB.
6. Operating Instructions
6.1. Power On/Off
- To Power On: Press and hold the Power button (⏻) for approximately 2 seconds.
- To Power Off: Press and hold the Power button (⏻) for approximately 2 seconds.
6.2. FM Radio Operation
- Enter FM Mode: Press the FM button. The display will show the current FM frequency.
- Manual Tuning: Rotate the Tuning Knob on the right side of the device to manually adjust the frequency.
- Automatic Tuning Storage (ATS): Press and hold the FM button to initiate ATS. The radio will scan and automatically save available FM stations to memory.
- Recalling Stored Stations: Press the MEM button, then use the Play/Pause/Skip buttons to navigate through stored stations.
- Setting Favorite Station: The manual mentions 1 favorite station. Refer to the on-screen prompts or specific button combinations for this feature, typically involving the MEM button and a long press on a number or play button.
- FM Frequency Range Selection: The M-601 supports multiple FM ranges (64-108 MHz, 76-108 MHz, 87-108 MHz, 88-108 MHz). This setting is usually found in a system menu or by a specific button combination (e.g., long press FM button while off, or a dedicated switch). Consult the device's display for options.
6.3. Bluetooth Operation
The M-601 features Bluetooth 5.0 for wireless audio streaming.
- Enter Bluetooth Mode: Press the BT button. The display will show "BT" or a Bluetooth icon, indicating it's ready for pairing.
- Pairing: On your Bluetooth-enabled device (e.g., smartphone), search for available Bluetooth devices. Select "TECSUN M-601" from the list. Once connected, the device will confirm pairing.
- Playback: Play audio on your connected device. The sound will be streamed through the M-601's speaker or connected headphones. Use the M-601's Play/Pause/Skip buttons to control playback.
6.4. Audio Player Operation (Micro SD Card)
Ensure a Micro SD card with supported audio files is inserted (refer to Section 5.2).
- Enter SD Card Mode: Press the SD button. The device will automatically start playing audio files from the Micro SD card.
- Playback Controls: Use the Play/Pause/Skip buttons to control playback (play, pause, next track, previous track).
- Supported Audio Formats: The M-601 supports 16bit / 44.1kHz FLAC, WAV, WMA, and MP3 files up to 320 kbps.
6.5. Recording Function
The M-601 can record audio from various sources to the inserted Micro SD card.
- Initiate Recording: Press the REC button (●). The recording indicator will appear on the display.
- Recording Sources:
- Voice: Records mono MP3 (56kbps) via the built-in microphone.
- Phone Call: Records mono WAV (32kbps) when connected via Bluetooth to a phone call.
- Radio and Bluetooth (not phone): Records stereo MP3 (160kbps) from FM radio or Bluetooth audio streaming.
- Stop Recording: Press the REC button again to stop recording. The recorded file will be saved to the Micro SD card.
6.6. Clock, Alarm, and Sleep Timer
- Setting Time: Press the TIME button. Use the Hour/Min buttons (often integrated with Volume or Skip buttons) to adjust the time, then press TIME again to confirm.
- Setting Alarm: Press the ALARM button. Follow the on-screen prompts to set the alarm time and activation status.
- Sleep Timer: This feature allows the radio to turn off automatically after a set period. Typically activated by a long press on the Power button or a dedicated Sleep button (if available). Refer to the display for sleep timer options.
6.7. USB-C Audio Input
The USB-C port can also function as an audio input from a computer.
- Connect the M-601 to your computer using the USB-C cable.
- The device may be recognized as an external audio output device by your computer. Select it as the playback device in your computer's sound settings.
- Audio played on your computer will now output through the M-601.
7. Maintenance
- Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the exterior of the device. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Battery Care: To prolong battery life, avoid fully discharging the battery frequently. If storing the device for an extended period, charge it to approximately 50% every few months.
- Storage: Store the device in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
8. Troubleshooting
