Operating Instructions
1. Power On/Off
To power on the Equinox 700, press and hold the power button located on the control pod until the display illuminates. To power off, press and hold the same button until the display shuts down.
2. Detect Modes
The Equinox 700 offers three primary detect modes, optimized for different environments and target types:
- Park Mode: Ideal for high-trash areas like parks and urban environments, designed to filter out common junk targets.
- Field Mode: Best suited for open fields and natural areas, focusing on fine coins and artifacts.
- Beach Mode: Specifically engineered for wet and dry sand conditions, allowing for effective searching in saltwater environments.
Select the appropriate mode using the dedicated buttons on the control pod to optimize your search.

3. Multi-IQ Technology
The Equinox 700 utilizes Minelab's revolutionary Multi-IQ technology, which combines the power of multiple detectors into one. This simultaneous multi-frequency operation allows the detector to find targets that single-frequency detectors might miss, providing superior depth and target identification across all ground conditions.

Figure 5: Multi-IQ technology allows the Equinox 700 to operate on multiple frequencies simultaneously, enhancing detection capabilities.
4. Target Identification and Audio Control
The detector provides fast and accurate Target ID, helping you distinguish between valuable targets and trash. Superior audio control allows you to gauge the size and depth of detected objects. Recovery Speed and Iron Bias controls further refine how your detector responds to signals, minimizing false signals from iron and improving target separation.

5. Lighting and Vibration Features
For low-light conditions, the Equinox 700 includes a built-in flashlight, backlight display, and keypad backlight. The Handgrip Vibration feature provides tactile feedback for target detection, useful in noisy environments or for users with hearing impairments.

6. Waterproof Capability
The Equinox 700 is fully waterproof and submersible up to 16 ft (5 m). This allows for effective metal detecting in rivers, lakes, and ocean environments, expanding your search possibilities for gold, silver, jewelry, coins, and other treasures.

7. Using the PRO-FIND 40 Pinpointer
The PRO-FIND 40 Pinpointer is designed to accurately locate targets within a small area once the main detector has identified a general location. It features increased depth, adjustable 5-level sensitivity, Rapid Re-tune function, ferrous tone ID to distinguish iron, and a handy lost-alarm feature. Use it in conjunction with your Equinox 700 for precise target recovery.

Maintenance
1. Cleaning
After each use, especially in wet or sandy conditions, clean your Equinox 700 and PRO-FIND 40 with fresh water. Wipe down all surfaces with a soft, damp cloth. Ensure all connections are free of debris. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive materials, as this may damage the device's finish or waterproof seals.
2. Battery Care and Storage
To maximize battery life, store the device in a cool, dry place when not in use. Avoid extreme temperatures. Always follow the battery handling and storage guidelines provided by MINELAB to prevent damage and ensure safety. Periodically charge the battery even if not in use to maintain its health.
3. Coil Protection
The EQX 11 coil comes with a skidplate. Ensure the skidplate is properly attached to protect the coil from scratches and impacts during use. Inspect the coil and cable regularly for any signs of wear or damage.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Continuous beeping or false signals | Electromagnetic interference (EMI), improper ground balance, coil too close to metal during startup. |
|
| Detector not powering on | Low battery, faulty charging cable/port, internal issue. |
|
| No audio from headphones | Headphones not paired, low headphone battery, volume too low. |
