Setup and Installation

Location Requirements:

  • Install the pump as close to the pool as possible to minimize friction loss.
  • Ensure the location is well-ventilated and protected from direct sunlight and excessive moisture.
  • The pump must be installed on a firm, level base that can support its weight and prevent vibration.
  • Allow sufficient space around the pump for maintenance and air circulation.

Plumbing Connections:

  1. Ensure all plumbing connections are clean and free of debris.
  2. Apply thread sealant (Teflon tape or pipe dope) to all threaded connections to prevent leaks.
  3. Connect the suction line from the pool skimmer/main drain to the inlet port of the pump (typically the front port).
  4. Connect the discharge line from the pump's outlet port (top port) to the pool filter.
  5. Use the provided 1.5" NPT slip-on fittings for secure connections.

Electrical Connections:

  • Verify that the power supply voltage matches the pump's requirements (115 Volts).
  • The pump must be connected to a properly grounded electrical outlet protected by a Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI).
  • Do not use extension cords.
  • Consult a qualified electrician for all electrical wiring to ensure compliance with local codes and safety standards.

Operating Instructions

Priming the Pump:

  1. Ensure the pool water level is adequate.
  2. Open all suction and return valves to the pool.
  3. Remove the transparent lid from the strainer basket.
  4. Fill the strainer basket with water until it overflows.
  5. Replace the lid, ensuring it is securely tightened to prevent air leaks.
  6. Turn on the pump. The pump should prime within a few minutes. If not, turn off the pump, re-prime, and check for air leaks in the suction line.

Selecting Pump Speed:

This pump features two speed settings for optimal performance and energy efficiency.

  • High Speed (3450 RPM): Use for initial pool cleaning, vacuuming, backwashing the filter, or when maximum water circulation is required. This setting provides a flow rate of approximately 75 Gallons Per Minute (4500 GPH).
  • Low Speed (1720 RPM): Use for daily filtration and maintaining water clarity. This setting consumes less energy and operates more quietly, suitable for continuous operation.

Maintenance

Strainer Basket Cleaning:

The large strainer basket collects debris to protect the pump and maintain flow. It should be inspected and cleaned regularly.

  1. Turn off the pump and disconnect power.
  2. Close any necessary valves to prevent water flow from the pool.
  3. Unscrew the transparent lid of the strainer basket.
  4. Remove the basket and empty any collected debris.
  5. Rinse the basket thoroughly with water.
  6. Inspect the O-ring on the lid for cracks or wear. Replace if necessary.
  7. Place the clean basket back into the pump and securely tighten the lid.
  8. Re-prime the pump before restarting.

Winterization:

Before freezing temperatures arrive, the pump must be properly winterized to prevent damage.

  • Drain all water from the pump by removing the drain plugs (if applicable) and disconnecting plumbing.
  • Store the pump in a dry, protected area where it will not freeze.
  • Ensure the motor is completely dry before storage.
