The printer has a user-replaceable maintenance box that collects waste ink. When the printer indicates that the maintenance box is full or near full, it needs to be replaced. Refer to the printer's LCD screen or the Epson Smart Panel app for instructions on how to access and replace the maintenance box. Ensure you use a genuine Epson replacement maintenance box.
4.2 Print Head Cleaning
If print quality declines (e.g., missing lines, faded prints), perform a print head cleaning. This can be done through the printer's control panel or via the printer driver software on your computer. Regular cleaning, especially if the printer is not used frequently, helps maintain print quality.
4.3 General Cleaning
Wipe the exterior of the printer with a soft, damp, lint-free cloth. Clean the scanner glass regularly with a non-abrasive glass cleaner to ensure clear scans and copies.
5. Troubleshooting
This section addresses common issues you might encounter with your printer.
5.1 Print Quality Issues
- Faded or Streaky Prints: Perform a print head cleaning and nozzle check. Ensure ink tanks are adequately filled.
- Incorrect Colors: Verify that the correct ink colors are in their respective tanks. Perform a print head alignment.
- Missing Lines/Gaps: This often indicates clogged nozzles. Run a print head cleaning cycle multiple times if necessary. If the issue persists, a powerful cleaning cycle might be required (refer to software options).
5.2 Connectivity Problems
- Printer Not Detected: Ensure the printer is powered on and connected to the correct Wi-Fi network. Restart your computer/device and the printer. Check firewall settings.
- Wi-Fi Direct Issues: Ensure Wi-Fi Direct is enabled on both the printer and your device. Check the network name (SSID) and password.
5.3 Paper Jams
If a paper jam occurs, the printer's LCD screen will display an error message. Carefully open the printer covers and remove any jammed paper, pulling it gently in the direction of the paper path. Avoid tearing the paper inside the printer. Close all covers securely after clearing the jam.
5.4 Error Messages
Refer to the printer's LCD screen for specific error codes or messages. Consult the Epson support website or the Epson Smart Panel app for detailed explanations and solutions for each error.
