2. Safety Information

  • Always ensure the top case is securely locked to the Monokey plate before riding.
  • Do not exceed the maximum load capacity specified for the top case (refer to specifications).
  • Distribute weight evenly inside the top case to maintain vehicle stability.
  • Avoid exceeding the vehicle's recommended speed limit when the top case is installed. High speeds with a loaded top case can affect handling.
  • Regularly check all mounting hardware for tightness and wear.
  • Keep keys in a safe place and always remove them after locking the case.

3. Package Contents

Verify that all components are present in the package:

  • GIVI V45NTA 45LTR Tech Monokey Top Case
  • Keys (set of 2)
  • Universal Monokey Mounting Plate (if included with this specific model, otherwise sold separately)
  • Mounting Hardware Kit (bolts, washers, brackets)
  • Instruction Manual (this document)

Note: The Monokey mounting plate is often sold separately or as part of a specific vehicle fitting kit. Ensure you have the correct Monokey plate for your motorcycle or scooter.

4. Setup & Installation

Installation of the GIVI V45NTA top case requires a compatible GIVI Monokey mounting plate (e.g., M5, M7, M8A, M8B, M9A, M9B, or a universal Monokey plate) and a specific GIVI fitting kit for your motorcycle or scooter model. If you do not have these, they must be purchased separately.

4.1 Attaching the Monokey Plate to Your Vehicle

  1. Prepare Vehicle: Ensure your motorcycle or scooter has a rear rack or a GIVI-specific fitting kit installed.
  2. Position Plate: Place the Monokey mounting plate onto the rear rack. Ensure it is centered and aligned correctly.
  3. Secure Plate: Use the provided mounting hardware (bolts, washers, clamps) to firmly attach the Monokey plate to the vehicle's rack. Tighten all fasteners evenly. Refer to the specific instructions provided with your Monokey plate and fitting kit for detailed steps and torque specifications.
  4. Verify Stability: Once secured, gently attempt to move the plate to ensure it is stable and does not wobble.

  3. Lock Case: Insert the key into the lock cylinder and turn it to the locked position. Remove the key.
  4. Check Security: Attempt to lift the top case from the plate to confirm it is securely attached and locked.

  2. Insert the key and turn it to the unlock position.
  3. Locate the release lever or button, typically positioned under the top case near the front of the mounting plate.
  4. While holding the release lever/button, lift the top case slightly and slide it backward to disengage it from the Monokey plate.
  5. Carefully lift the top case off the plate.

6. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Clean the exterior of the top case with a mild soap solution and a soft cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents that could damage the plastic finish.
  • Lubrication: Periodically apply a small amount of silicone spray or graphite lubricant to the lock cylinder and hinges to ensure smooth operation.
  • Seal Inspection: Check the rubber seal around the lid for any signs of wear, cracks, or damage. A damaged seal can compromise the water resistance of the case.
  • Hardware Check: Regularly inspect all mounting bolts and fasteners for tightness. Vibrations from riding can cause them to loosen over time.
  • Storage: When not in use, store the top case in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight to prevent material degradation.

7. Troubleshooting

Problem: Top case does not lock or latch properly.
Solution: Ensure the lid is fully closed and pressed down until it clicks. Check for any obstructions preventing the lid from closing completely. Inspect the locking mechanism for debris or damage. Lubricate the lock cylinder if it feels stiff.
Problem: Top case is difficult to attach or detach from the Monokey plate.
Solution: Verify that the Monokey plate is correctly installed and not bent or damaged. Ensure the release lever/button is fully actuated when detaching. Check for any debris in the mounting slots on the plate or the case. Lubricate moving parts if necessary.
Problem: Water ingress into the top case.
Solution: Inspect the rubber seal around the lid for cracks, tears, or improper seating. Ensure the lid is fully closed and latched. If the seal is damaged, it may need replacement.
Problem: Rattling noise from the top case while riding.
Solution: Check that the top case is securely mounted to the Monokey plate and all fasteners are tight. Ensure items inside the case are properly secured and not shifting. If the noise persists, inspect the Monokey plate and vehicle rack for loose components.
