Maclean MCE 153 Remote Control Socket Kit

User Manual

Introduction

This manual provides detailed instructions for the installation, operation, and maintenance of your Maclean MCE 153 Remote Control Socket Kit. This kit includes four remote-controlled sockets and two remote controls, designed for convenient wireless control of your electrical appliances. Each remote control can manage up to four individual channels (A, B, C, D) and an 'ALL' function to control all paired sockets simultaneously. The system operates via radio communication, allowing control even through walls, with a maximum range of 30 meters in open areas. The integrated memory ensures that pairing codes are retained for up to 10 years, even if power is lost.

Safety Information

  • Do not exceed the maximum load capacity of 3600 W for any single socket or the combined load. Overloading can cause damage to the device and pose a fire hazard.
  • Ensure the sockets are used in dry indoor environments only. Avoid exposure to moisture, water, or extreme temperatures.
  • Do not disassemble or attempt to repair the devices. Refer all servicing to qualified personnel.
  • Keep out of reach of children.
  • Always insert the plug completely into the socket.
  • Disconnect from power before cleaning. Clean only with a dry, soft cloth.

Setup

The Maclean MCE 153 sockets and remote controls are pre-paired from the factory. If re-pairing is necessary or if you wish to change channel assignments, follow these steps:

  1. Insert Batteries: Open the battery compartment on the back of the remote control and insert the included batteries, ensuring correct polarity.
  2. Plug in Socket: Plug the remote control socket into a standard wall outlet. The indicator light on the socket may flash briefly.
  3. Pairing (if needed): If the socket does not respond to the remote, press and hold the small pairing button on the side of the socket for approximately 3-5 seconds until the indicator light begins to flash rapidly. While the light is flashing, press the desired 'ON' button (e.g., 'A ON') on the remote control. The socket's indicator light should stop flashing and remain solid, indicating successful pairing. Repeat this process for each socket and desired channel.
  4. Test Functionality: After pairing, press the 'ON' and 'OFF' buttons for the assigned channel on the remote control to ensure the socket responds correctly.

Operating Instructions

Once the sockets are plugged in and paired with the remote controls, operation is straightforward:

  1. Individual Control: To turn an appliance connected to a specific socket ON, press the corresponding 'ON' button (A, B, C, or D) on the remote control. To turn it OFF, press the corresponding 'OFF' button.
  2. Group Control: To turn all paired sockets ON simultaneously, press the 'ALL ON' button. To turn all paired sockets OFF simultaneously, press the 'ALL OFF' button.
  3. Manual Control: Each socket also has a manual button on its side. Pressing this button will toggle the power state (ON/OFF) of the connected appliance.

Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Ensure the devices are unplugged before cleaning. Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe the surfaces. Do not use liquid cleaners or abrasive materials.
  • Battery Replacement: If the remote control's range decreases or the indicator light dims, replace the batteries. Ensure to use the correct battery type and dispose of old batteries responsibly.
  • Storage: Store the devices in a cool, dry place when not in use for extended periods.

Troubleshooting

  • Socket does not respond to remote:
    • Check if the remote control batteries are depleted. Replace if necessary.
    • Ensure the remote control is within the operating range (max 30m in open area).
    • Verify that the socket is properly plugged into the wall outlet and receiving power.
    • Re-pair the socket with the remote control following the 'Setup' instructions.
  • Appliance does not turn ON/OFF:
    • Check if the appliance itself is functioning correctly when plugged directly into a wall outlet.
    • Ensure the appliance is properly plugged into the remote control socket.
    • Verify that the total power consumption of the connected appliance does not exceed 3600 W.
  • Interference: If experiencing intermittent control, try moving the remote control or the socket to a different location to avoid potential radio interference from other devices.
