- Work Area: Keep the work area clear of bystanders, children, and pets. Operate the blower in well-lit areas.
- Inspection: Before each use, inspect the blower for loose parts, damaged components, or fuel leaks. Do not operate if damaged.
- Operation: Do not operate the blower when fatigued or under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Maintain a firm grip on the handle.
- Hot Surfaces: The engine and muffler become very hot during operation and can cause burns. Avoid contact.
- Vibration: Prolonged use can cause vibration-related injuries. Take frequent breaks and use anti-vibration gloves if available.

- Set the choke lever to the 'START' position (usually fully closed).
- Press the primer bulb several times until fuel is visible in the return line.
- Pull the starter cord firmly and smoothly until the engine attempts to start (usually 1-3 pulls).
- Once the engine 'pops' or attempts to start, move the choke lever to the 'HALF CHOKE' or 'RUN' position (as indicated by your model).
- Pull the starter cord again until the engine starts.

Figure 4.2: Adjustable Handle
- Throttle Control: Use the rapid response throttle on the control handle to adjust the engine speed and airflow.
- Cruise Control: For prolonged operation at a constant speed, engage the cruise control feature.
- Blowing Technique: Sweep the nozzle from side to side to move leaves and debris effectively. Avoid directing the airflow towards people or fragile objects.
Stopping the Engine:
To stop the engine, release the throttle and allow the engine to idle for a few seconds. Then, press the engine stop switch to the 'OFF' position.
5. Maintenance
Regular maintenance is crucial for the longevity and optimal performance of your leaf blower.
After Each Use:
- Clean the Exterior: Wipe down the blower with a damp cloth to remove dirt and debris.
- Inspect Air Filter: Check the air filter for excessive dirt. Clean or replace if necessary.

Figure 5.1: 2-Stage Air Filter
Periodic Maintenance:
- Air Filter Cleaning/Replacement: Clean the air filter regularly (more often in dusty conditions). Wash foam filters with warm, soapy water, rinse, and allow to dry completely before re-oiling lightly. Replace paper filters when heavily soiled.
- Spark Plug Inspection/Replacement: Inspect the spark plug for wear or carbon buildup. Clean or replace as needed. Refer to the specifications for the correct spark plug type and gap.
- Fuel Filter: Check and replace the fuel filter periodically to ensure clean fuel delivery to the carburetor.
- Cooling Fins: Keep the engine's cooling fins clean to prevent overheating.
- General Fasteners: Periodically check all nuts, bolts, and screws for tightness and tighten as necessary.
Storage:
When storing the blower for an extended period, drain the fuel tank and run the engine until it stops to clear the carburetor of fuel. This prevents fuel degradation and carburetor issues.
6. Troubleshooting
This section provides solutions to common operational issues.
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Engine does not start | No fuel, incorrect choke position, fouled spark plug, clogged fuel filter. | Check fuel level and mixture, adjust choke, clean/replace spark plug, replace fuel filter. |
| Engine starts but stalls | Incorrect choke position, dirty air filter, stale fuel, carburetor issues. | Adjust choke, clean air filter, use fresh fuel, consult service if carburetor issues persist. |
| Loss of power during operation | Dirty air filter, clogged fuel filter, incorrect fuel mixture, worn spark plug. | Clean air filter, replace fuel filter, ensure correct fuel mixture, replace spark plug. |
| Excessive vibration | Loose components, damaged fan/impeller. | Check and tighten all fasteners. If fan/impeller is suspected, consult service. |
