Fuel Mixing

This trimmer uses a 2-cycle engine and requires a specific gasoline/oil mixture. Use fresh, unleaded gasoline with an octane rating of 89 or higher, mixed with a high-quality 2-cycle engine oil at a ratio of 50:1 (50 parts gasoline to 1 part oil).

  1. Obtain an approved fuel container.
  2. Pour half of the required gasoline into the container.
  3. Add the entire amount of 2-cycle oil.
  4. Add the remaining gasoline.
  5. Securely close the container and shake it vigorously to ensure thorough mixing.
  6. Fill the trimmer's fuel tank (refer to Figure 2.1 for fuel tank location), ensuring not to overfill.

Note: Do not use E85 gasoline or automotive oil. Always use fresh fuel mixture; stale fuel can cause starting difficulties and engine damage.

  5. Grip the assist handle firmly and place one foot on the base of the trimmer for stability.
  6. Pull the starter rope with a smooth, steady motion until the engine attempts to start (usually 1-3 pulls).
  7. Once the engine "pops" or attempts to start, move the choke lever to the "HALF CHOKE" position.
  8. Pull the starter rope again until the engine starts.

5. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and extends the life of your trimmer. Always disconnect the spark plug wire before performing any maintenance.

Air Filter

  • Inspection: Check the air filter every 5 hours of operation or more frequently in dusty conditions.
  • Cleaning: Remove the air filter cover (refer to Figure 3.2 for location). Carefully remove the filter element. Clean it with warm, soapy water, rinse thoroughly, and allow it to air dry completely. Alternatively, tap out loose debris.
  • Replacement: Replace the air filter if it is damaged or cannot be cleaned effectively.

Spark Plug

  • Inspection: Inspect the spark plug annually or every 25 hours of operation.
  • Cleaning/Adjustment: Remove the spark plug. Clean any carbon deposits with a wire brush. Check the electrode gap and adjust if necessary according to the specifications (typically 0.025 inches or 0.63 mm).
  • Replacement: Replace the spark plug if it is heavily fouled, damaged, or if the engine experiences consistent starting issues.

Cutting Head and Line Replacement

The bump-feed cutting head requires periodic line replacement. Use .080-inch diameter trimmer line.

  1. Ensure the engine is off and the spark plug wire is disconnected.
  2. Locate the tabs or arrows on the cutting head. Press the tabs or align the arrows to open the spool housing.
  3. Remove the old line and any remaining debris.
  4. Cut a new length of .080-inch trimmer line (typically 15-20 feet).
  5. Fold the line in half and insert the folded end into the designated slot in the spool.
  6. Wind the line evenly and tightly onto the spool in the direction indicated by arrows on the head. Ensure both ends of the line are of equal length.
  7. Feed the ends of the line through the eyelets on the cutting head.
  8. Reassemble the spool housing, ensuring it clicks securely into place.
