4. Installation
Proper installation ensures optimal audio quality and secure fitment. The SMH10R is designed for easy installation on most motorcycle helmets.
4.1. Component Placement
- Main Unit: Mount the control unit on the left side of your helmet using the provided double-sided adhesive tape or hook and loop fasteners. Ensure it is positioned for easy access to the buttons.
- Battery Pack: Attach the battery pack to the back of your helmet using the provided hook and loop fasteners.
- Speakers: Secure the speakers inside the helmet's ear voids using the hook and loop fasteners. Position them directly over your ears for the best sound experience.
- Microphone: Attach the microphone (boom or wired) just in front of your mouth. The boom microphone is suitable for open-face helmets, while the wired microphone is for full-face helmets.

4.2. Wiring
Connect the wires from the speakers, microphone, and battery pack to the main unit. Each connector is unique, preventing incorrect connections. Carefully route and tuck away all wires within the helmet padding to avoid interference and ensure comfort.

5. Operating Instructions
5.1. Power On/Off
- Power On: Press and hold the central button for approximately 1 second until the LED indicator flashes.
- Power Off: Press and hold the central button for approximately 5 seconds until the LED indicator turns off.
5.2. Bluetooth Pairing
- Ensure the SMH10R is powered off.
- Press and hold the central button for 5 seconds until the LED flashes red and blue, indicating pairing mode.
- On your mobile device, enable Bluetooth and search for available devices.
- Select "Sena SMH10R" from the list. If prompted, enter PIN "0000".
- Once paired, the LED will flash blue.
5.3. Music Playback
- Play/Pause: Press the central button for approximately 1 second.
- Next Track: Press the '+' button.
- Previous Track: Press the '-' button.
5.4. Phone Calls
- Answer Call: Tap the central button.
- End Call: Press and hold the central button for 2 seconds.
- Reject Call: Press and hold the central button for 2 seconds.
- Voice Dial: Press and hold the central button for 3 seconds to activate your phone's voice assistant (e.g., Siri, Google Voice).
5.5. Intercom Communication
- Start/End Intercom: Tap the central button once to initiate or terminate intercom conversation with a paired rider.
5.6. Volume Control
- Increase Volume: Tap the '+' button.
- Decrease Volume: Tap the '-' button.
6. Maintenance
- Cleaning: Wipe the main unit with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
- Charging: Charge the device fully before long periods of inactivity. The battery life is approximately 10 hours of talk time and 7 days of standby time.
- Storage: Store the headset in a cool, dry place when not in use.
- Water Resistance: The unit is water-resistant, but not waterproof. Avoid submerging it in water.
