2. Setup
2.1 Package Contents
Before you begin, ensure all items are present:
- VTech XS1050 Handset
- VTech XS1050 Base Unit
- Power Adapter for Base Unit
- Telephone Line Cord

2.2 Battery Installation
- Open the battery compartment cover on the back of the handset.
- Insert the two supplied batteries, observing the correct polarity (+ and -).
- Close the battery compartment cover securely.
2.3 Connecting the Base Unit
- Connect the power adapter to the base unit and plug it into a wall outlet.
- Connect one end of the telephone line cord to the base unit and the other end to your telephone wall jack.

3.1 Making and Receiving Calls
- Making a Call: Pick up the handset, dial the number, and press the Call button.
- Receiving a Call: When the phone rings, press the Call button.
- Ending a Call: Press the End Call button or place the handset back on the base unit.

The VTech XS1050 features a digital answering machine with up to 30 minutes of recording time.

3.3 Hands-Free Speakerphone
To activate the hands-free speakerphone during a call, press the Speakerphone button on the handset. Press it again to switch back to handset mode.
