3. Setup

Battery Installation (Battery Not Included)

This impact wrench is designed to be compatible with Makita 18V batteries. A 4Ah or higher battery is recommended for optimal performance.

  1. Ensure the impact wrench is turned off.
  2. Align the Makita 18V battery with the battery interface on the tool.
  3. Slide the battery into place until it clicks securely. Do not force the battery.
  4. To remove, press the battery release button and slide the battery out.

Attaching Sockets

The tool features a 1/2-inch hog ring anvil for quick socket changes.

  1. Select the appropriate 1/2-inch drive impact socket for your task.
  2. Push the socket firmly onto the 1/2-inch square drive anvil until the hog ring secures it in place.
  3. Ensure the socket is fully seated and secure before operation.

4. Operating Instructions

Powering On/Off and Direction Control

  • To turn on the tool, press the trigger switch. The speed is variable based on trigger pressure.
  • To turn off, release the trigger switch.
  • Use the Forward/Reverse button (typically located above the trigger) to select the desired rotation direction. Push left for forward (tightening), push right for reverse (loosening).

Speed and Torque Adjustment

The impact wrench offers 3 forward speeds, 1 reverse speed, and an auto-stop feature.

  • Press the Speed Control Button to cycle through the available speed settings. The Speed Gear Display will indicate the current setting.
  • Forward Speeds: Adjust for different tightening requirements, from light fastening to heavy-duty tasks (up to 950 ft-lbs tightening torque).
  • Reverse Speed with Auto-Stop: The auto-stop feature helps prevent over-loosening or dropping fasteners by stopping rotation once the fastener is loose. This is particularly useful for wheel lug nuts. The maximum loosening torque is 1000 ft-lbs.

Using the LED Work Light

The integrated LED work light activates when the trigger is pressed, providing illumination in dimly lit areas.
