3. Setup and Installation
Proper installation is crucial for the performance and safety of the TC5-S controller. Ensure all power is disconnected before proceeding with installation.
3.1 Panel Mounting
- Cut a 45x45mm square opening in the desired panel.
- Insert the TC5-S controller into the opening from the front.
- Secure the controller using the provided mounting brackets from the rear.
3.2 Wiring Diagram
Refer to the wiring diagram on the side of the unit for correct connections. Ensure all connections are secure and comply with local electrical codes.

Figure 2: Side view of the controller showing the wiring diagram and terminal connections. This diagram illustrates connections for power supply (100-240VAC), input (TC/RTD), and output (SSR/Relay, mA).
- Power Supply: Connect 100-240VAC, 50/60Hz to terminals 1 and 2.
- Input: Connect your temperature sensor (thermocouple or RTD) to the designated input terminals (e.g., 8, 9, 10 for TC/RTD).
- Output: Connect your control device (SSR or Relay) to the output terminals (e.g., 3, 4, 5 for Relay/SSR output).
- Alarm: Connect alarm devices to terminals 6 and 7.

4.1 Front Panel Controls
- PV Display (Upper): Shows the Process Value (current temperature).
- SV Display (Lower): Shows the Set Value (desired temperature).
- OUT Indicator: Illuminates when the output is active.
- SET Button: Used to enter parameter setting mode and confirm selections.
- Left Arrow Button (<): Used to shift digits during value adjustment.
- Down Arrow Button (↓): Used to decrease values.
- Up Arrow Button (↑): Used to increase values.
4.2 Setting the Temperature
- Press the SET button once. The SV display will begin to flash.
- Use the <, ↓, and ↑ buttons to adjust the desired temperature (Set Value).
- Press the SET button again to confirm the new Set Value. The display will stop flashing, and the controller will begin to regulate to the new temperature.
4.3 Advanced Parameter Settings
To access advanced parameters (e.g., PID constants, input type, alarm settings), press and hold the SET button for approximately 3-5 seconds. Navigate through parameters using the SET button and adjust values using the arrow keys. Refer to the detailed parameter list in the full product manual for specific codes and functions.

5. Maintenance
The RWRAPS TC5-S controller requires minimal maintenance to ensure long-term reliable operation.
- Cleaning: Periodically wipe the front panel with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Inspection: Regularly inspect wiring connections for looseness or signs of damage.
- Environment: Ensure the operating environment is within the specified temperature and humidity ranges to prevent damage.
No user-serviceable parts are inside the unit. Refer all servicing to qualified personnel.
6. Troubleshooting
This section provides solutions to common issues encountered with the TC5-S controller.
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| No display/Power off | No power supply; Incorrect wiring; Blown fuse. | Check power connections (100-240VAC); Verify wiring against diagram; Replace fuse if applicable (by qualified personnel). |
| PV display shows "HHHH" or "LLLL" | Sensor open circuit (HHHH) or short circuit (LLLL); Incorrect sensor type setting. | Check sensor wiring and integrity; Ensure input type setting matches the connected sensor (e.g., K-type thermocouple, PT100 RTD). |
| Output not activating | Incorrect output wiring; Output type mismatch (SSR/Relay); Temperature not reaching setpoint; PID parameters require tuning. | Verify output wiring; Confirm controller output type matches connected device; Adjust setpoint; Tune PID parameters if necessary. |
| Temperature unstable/overshoots | PID parameters not optimally tuned for the system. | Perform auto-tuning or manually adjust PID parameters (P, I, D) according to system response. |
