3. Setup and Assembly

Follow these steps to assemble and attach your VEVOR Hay Spear to your tractor or skid steer bucket.

Assembly Steps:

  1. Unpack Components: Carefully remove all parts from the packaging. Verify all components listed in the "What's in the Box" section are present.
  2. Attach Main Spears: Insert the two 49" main spears into the designated openings on the hay spear frame. Secure them with the provided self-locking nuts on the backside of the frame. Ensure they are tightened firmly using a wrench.
  3. Attach Stabilizer Spears: Insert the two 17.5" stabilizer spears into their respective openings on the frame. Secure them with self-locking nuts.

Attaching to Tractor/Skid Steer Bucket:

  1. Position the Spear: Slide the hay spear frame over the lip of your tractor or skid steer bucket. Ensure the frame sits flush against the bucket.
  2. Secure with Chain: Pull the 60" chain over the top of the bucket. Connect the chain to the chain tightener (ratchet) and then to the knuckle on the front of the hay spear frame.
  3. Tighten: Use the chain tightener to secure the hay spear firmly to the bucket. Ensure there is no slack in the chain and the attachment is stable.

4. Operating Instructions

Once the VEVOR Hay Spear is securely attached, you can begin moving hay bales efficiently.

Handling Hay Bales:

  1. Approach the Bale: Slowly approach the hay bale with your tractor or skid steer, aligning the spears with the center of the bale.
  2. Penetrate the Bale: Gently drive forward, allowing the sharp spear tips to penetrate the hay bale. Ensure both main spears are fully inserted for maximum stability.
  3. Lift and Transport: Once the bale is securely on the spears, slowly lift the bucket to raise the bale off the ground. Transport the bale carefully to its desired location, keeping the bale as low as possible for stability.
  4. Release the Bale: Position the bale where you want to unload it, then slowly lower the bucket and retract the spears from the bale.
