4. Setup Guide

4.1 Assembling the Microphone

  1. Unpack all components from the box.
  2. Attach the anti-vibration shock mount to the tripod stand.
  3. Carefully secure the microphone into the shock mount.
  4. Attach the pop filter to the stand or microphone as desired to reduce plosive sounds.

4.2 Connecting to Your Device

  1. Connect the USB-C end of the provided 6ft USB cable to the USB-C port on the back of the microphone.
  2. Connect the USB-A end of the cable to an available USB port on your PC, laptop, PS4, or PS5.
  3. The microphone is plug-and-play and should be automatically recognized by your operating system.

4.3 Initial System Configuration (Windows/macOS)

After connecting, you may need to select the CMTECK microphone as your default input device in your system settings or application settings.

Adjust the input volume (gain) from your system settings or directly on the microphone using the gain dial.

5.1 Mute Function and Mic Gain Adjustment

The top dial on the microphone serves two functions:

5.3 RGB Lighting Control

To change the RGB lighting effect, locate the small button on the side of the microphone (often near the USB-C port). Press this button to cycle through the available RGB lighting modes: Single Color, Breathing Gradient, and Dynamic Flowing Light.

5.4 Polar Pattern Selection

The CMTECK microphone automatically switches between cardioid and omnidirectional patterns based on the selected sound mode or internal processing. For optimal performance, ensure your microphone is positioned correctly for your desired pickup pattern:

7. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your microphone, please refer to the following common problems and solutions:

  • Environmental background noise.
  • Microphone positioned incorrectly.
  • Adjust mic gain (top dial) to an appropriate level.
  • Press the bottom dial to cycle through sound modes (Noise Reduction, Mid-treble, Bass) to find the best fit.
  • Ensure you are using the Noise Reduction (NC) sound mode if background noise is an issue.
  • Position the microphone closer to your mouth for clearer voice pickup. Ensure you are speaking into the front of the microphone for cardioid mode.
RGB lighting not working or stuck.
  • Microphone not powered.
  • Temporary software glitch.
  • Ensure the microphone is properly connected via USB and receiving power.
  • Unplug and re-plug the USB cable to reset the microphone.
  • Press the RGB control button on the side to cycle through modes.
Headphone monitoring has no sound or is too quiet/loud.
  • Headphones not fully plugged in.
  • Monitor volume set too low/high.
  • Ensure your headphones are securely plugged into the 3.5mm jack on the microphone.
  • Rotate the bottom dial to adjust the monitor volume.
