4. Operation

4.1 Basic Recording

The Miofive S1 Dash Cam automatically begins recording when powered on. It records in a continuous loop, overwriting the oldest files when the memory card is full.

  • Automatic Start/Stop: The dash cam powers on and starts recording automatically when your vehicle's ignition is turned on. It powers off shortly after the ignition is turned off.
  • Loop Recording: Videos are recorded in 1-minute segments. When the memory card is full, the oldest unlocked files are overwritten.

4.2 G-Sensor and Emergency Recording

The built-in G-sensor detects sudden impacts or rapid acceleration/deceleration. When triggered, the current video segment is automatically locked to prevent it from being overwritten by loop recording.

  • Automatic Locking: In the event of a collision, the G-sensor activates, securing the footage.
  • Manual Locking: You can manually lock a recording by pressing the designated button on the dash cam.

4.3 Parking Monitoring (Requires Hardwire Kit)

For 24-hour parking monitoring, the dash cam requires a separate hardwire kit (ASIN: B0CRHJQ3WQ). Once installed, the dash cam can utilize time-lapse recording or G-sensor triggered recording while the vehicle is parked.

  • Time-lapse Mode: Records continuously at a low frame rate, saving storage space.
  • G-sensor Triggered: Records only when an impact is detected.
