6. Operating Instructions: Jump Starting a Vehicle
Safety First: Always ensure proper polarity connection. The smart clamps have built-in protections to prevent damage from incorrect connections.
- Prepare the Vehicle: Turn off the vehicle's ignition and all accessories (lights, radio, A/C). Engage the parking brake.
- Connect Clamps:
- Connect the red (positive +) clamp to the positive terminal of the vehicle's battery.
- Connect the black (negative -) clamp to the negative terminal of the vehicle's battery.
The smart clamp indicator light will flash red and green until a correct connection is made. Once connected correctly, it will show a solid green light.
- Start the Vehicle:
- If the smart clamp shows a solid green light, proceed to start your vehicle.
- For completely dead batteries: If the smart clamp light is red or flashing, press and hold the "BOOST" button on the smart clamp for approximately 3 seconds until the green light turns solid. This unlocks the force start function.
Attempt to start the vehicle. If it doesn't start immediately, wait 30 seconds before trying again. Do not crank for more than 3 seconds per attempt.
- Disconnect Clamps: Once the vehicle starts, immediately disconnect the black (negative -) clamp first, then the red (positive +) clamp. Disconnect the smart cables from the jump starter unit.
