Introduction and Overview
The ACCU-SCOPE EXC-350 Series microscope delivers advanced optical performance and versatility, designed for clinical, professional, and research applications. Featuring an enhanced LED illumination system and Infinity plan objectives, it provides bright, sharp, and crisp images. Its modular design supports various accessories for fluorescence, phase contrast, and darkfield applications.
Key features include:
- Ease of Viewing: Newly designed WF10x/20mm focusable eyepieces and a binocular tube that rotates 180° to adjust observation height, enhancing ergonomics.
- Superb Optics: Infinity plan and Plan semi-APO objectives ensure high resolution, high contrast, and flat images across the entire 20mm field of view.
- Versatile & Modular Design: Allows for easy integration of filter sliders, phase contrast, and LED fluorescence options.

Setup Instructions
Follow these steps to set up your EXC-350 microscope for initial use:
- Unpack the Microscope: Carefully remove all components from the packaging. Place the main microscope body on a stable, level surface away from direct sunlight and vibrations.
- Install the Viewing Head: Gently place the trinocular viewing head onto the top of the microscope body. Secure it by tightening the set screw, if present, to prevent rotation.
- Insert Eyepieces: Insert the WF 10x/20mm eyepieces into the eyepiece tubes of the viewing head. Ensure they are fully seated.
- Attach Objectives: Screw the Infinity Plan Achromat objectives (4x, 10x, 40xR, 100xR oil) into the nosepiece in ascending order of magnification (e.g., 4x, 10x, 40x, 100x). Ensure they are securely tightened.
- Connect Power: Locate the power input port at the rear of the microscope. Connect the provided power cord to the microscope and then to a suitable 110v-240v AC power outlet.

Operating Instructions
This section details the operation of your EXC-350 microscope for optimal viewing.
- Power On and Illumination: Turn on the microscope using the power switch. Adjust the 3-watt LED illumination intensity using the variable control knob to achieve comfortable brightness for your sample.
- Adjust Viewing Head: The trinocular Siedentopf head can be inclined 30° and rotated 360°. The eyepoint height can be adjusted by 180° rotation of the binocular tube to accommodate different users.
- Set Interpupillary Distance: While looking through the eyepieces, adjust the interpupillary distance (50mm-75mm) until you see a single, clear circular field of view.
- Diopter Adjustment: If your eyepieces have diopter adjustments, adjust them for individual eye focus. Typically, you focus with one eye (e.g., right eye) using the coarse and fine focus knobs, then adjust the diopter on the other eyepiece (e.g., left eye) until that eye is also in focus, without touching the main focus knobs.
- Place Specimen: Place your prepared slide onto the mechanical stage, securing it with the stage clips. Use the X-Y movement knobs to position the specimen directly over the condenser's light path.
- Select Objective: Rotate the rear-facing quintuple nosepiece to select the desired objective lens (e.g., 4x for initial scanning). Ensure the objective clicks firmly into place.
- Focusing: Use the coaxial focusing system. Begin with the coarse focus knob to bring the specimen into approximate focus. Then, use the fine focus knob for precise focusing. The upper limit stop prevents accidental damage to slides and objectives.
- Condenser and Iris Diaphragm: Adjust the Abbe condenser (NA 1.25) using its rack and pinion mechanism to optimize illumination. Open or close the iris diaphragm to control contrast and resolution.
- Light Path Selector: Use the two-position light path selector to direct light: 100% to eyepieces for observation, or 80% to eyepieces and 20% to the camera port for imaging.

Maintenance
Proper maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your microscope.
- Cleaning Optics: Use only specialized lens cleaning paper and solution for objectives and eyepieces. For oil immersion objectives (100xR oil), clean off immersion oil immediately after use to prevent residue buildup.
- Dust Protection: Always cover the microscope with the provided dust cover when not in use to protect it from dust and debris.
- General Cleaning: Wipe the microscope body with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
- LED Bulb: The 3-watt LED bulb is rated for over 25,000 hours of continued use and typically does not require frequent replacement. If replacement is needed, consult a qualified technician or the manufacturer.
- Storage: Store the microscope in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
Troubleshooting
This section provides solutions to common issues you might encounter.
- No Illumination:
- Check if the power cord is securely connected to both the microscope and the power outlet.
- Ensure the power switch is in the "ON" position.
- Verify the illumination intensity knob is turned up.
- Image is Blurry or Out of Focus:
- Adjust the coarse and fine focus knobs.
- Ensure the objective lens is fully clicked into position.
- Check if the specimen slide is placed correctly on the stage.
- For 100x oil immersion objective, ensure immersion oil is applied correctly.
- Adjust interpupillary distance and diopter settings for your eyes.
- Field of View is Dark or Uneven:
- Adjust the condenser height.
- Open the iris diaphragm.
- Ensure the light path selector is set correctly (e.g., 100% to eyepieces).
- Check if the objective lens is clean.
