4. Setup

4.1 Unpacking and Placement

  1. Carefully remove all packaging materials.
  2. Place the machine on a stable, level, and heat-resistant surface, away from water sources and direct sunlight.
  3. Ensure adequate ventilation around the appliance.

4.2 Initial Cleaning

  1. Remove the water tank and rinse it thoroughly with fresh water.
  2. Clean the drip tray and coffee grounds container with warm, soapy water, then rinse and dry.
  3. Wipe the exterior of the machine with a damp cloth.

4.3 Filling the Water Tank

  1. Fill the removable 2-liter water tank with fresh, cold tap water up to the MAX mark.
  2. Insert the water tank back into the machine until it clicks into place.

4.4 Filling the Bean Container

  1. Open the lid of the bean container.
  2. Pour fresh coffee beans into the 250g container. Do not overfill.
  3. Close the lid securely.

4.5 First Use Cycle

Before making your first coffee, perform a rinsing cycle:

  1. Place a large container under the coffee spout and milk frothing nozzle.
  2. Turn on the machine. It will automatically perform a short rinsing cycle.
  3. Follow any on-screen prompts to complete the initial setup.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Making Coffee (Espresso, Americano, Ristretto, Lungo)

  1. Ensure the water tank is filled and the bean container has enough coffee beans.
  2. Place one or two cups under the double coffee spout.
  3. Turn on the machine. Wait for it to heat up and perform its automatic rinse cycle.
  4. On the touchscreen display, select your desired coffee specialty (e.g., Espresso, Americano).
  5. You can adjust the water quantity for your drink if desired.
  6. Press the start button to begin brewing. The machine will grind the beans and dispense the coffee.

5.2 Using Ground Coffee

If you prefer to use pre-ground coffee:

  1. Open the ground coffee compartment (usually next to the bean container).
  2. Add one level scoop of ground coffee for a single serving. Do not add more than one scoop to avoid blockages.
  3. Select the 'Ground Coffee' option on the display, then choose your desired drink.
  4. Press the start button.

5.3 Milk Frothing

To prepare frothed milk for cappuccinos or latte macchiatos:

  1. Fill a milk pitcher with cold milk (dairy or non-dairy).
  2. Position the milk frothing nozzle into the milk pitcher.
  3. Select the 'Steam' or 'Milk Froth' function on the touchscreen.
  4. Once the desired froth consistency is achieved, turn off the steam function.
  5. Immediately clean the milk frothing nozzle after use (see Maintenance section).

5.4 Adjusting Grind Settings

The stainless steel grinder offers 13 settings to fine-tune your coffee's strength and flavor:

  • Finer Grind (lower numbers): For stronger coffee, slower extraction, and more crema. Suitable for espresso.
  • Coarser Grind (higher numbers): For milder coffee, faster extraction.

Adjust the grind setting only when the grinder is operating to prevent damage. Turn the dial inside the bean container to your desired setting.

6. Maintenance

Regular cleaning and maintenance ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your coffee machine.

6.1 Daily Cleaning

  • Drip Tray and Coffee Grounds Container: Empty and rinse daily. The machine will prompt you when the grounds container needs emptying.
  • Milk Frothing Nozzle: After each use, wipe the nozzle with a damp cloth. Run a short steam burst to clear any milk residue.
  • Exterior: Wipe with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners.

6.2 Brew Unit Cleaning

The brew unit should be removed and rinsed weekly:

  1. Turn off and unplug the machine.
  2. Open the service door (usually on the side or front).
  3. Press the release buttons and carefully pull out the brew unit.
  4. Rinse the brew unit thoroughly under lukewarm running water until all coffee residue is removed.
  5. Allow it to air dry completely before reinserting.

6.3 Descaling

The machine will indicate when descaling is required. Use a suitable descaling solution for coffee machines and follow the on-screen instructions or the descaling program steps:

  1. Empty the water tank and fill it with the descaling solution mixed with water as per the product instructions.
  2. Place a large container under the coffee spout and milk frothing nozzle.
  3. Start the automatic descaling program via the menu.
  4. The machine will guide you through the process, which typically involves several rinsing cycles.
  5. After the descaling program, rinse the water tank and fill it with fresh water to perform a final rinse cycle.
