Product Overview

The LUTEC 74W 8000 Lumen Motion Sensor Outdoor Light is designed to provide powerful and efficient illumination for outdoor spaces. Setup and Installation

The LUTEC outdoor light is designed for wall-mounted, hardwired installation. A junction box is required but not included. Ensure power is turned off at the circuit breaker before beginning installation.

1. Prepare Mounting Location: Select a suitable outdoor wall location, ideally where the motion sensor can cover the desired area effectively. The recommended installation height is approximately 8.2 feet for optimal motion detection.
2. Secure Mounting Plate: Attach the mounting plate to the wall using the provided mounting screws and rubber plugs. Ensure it is securely fastened.
3. Wire Connections: Connect the electrical wires from the light fixture to your household wiring using the provided wire nuts. Follow local electrical codes and safety guidelines. Typically, this involves connecting live to live, neutral to neutral, and ground to ground.
4. Attach Fixture: Carefully align the light fixture with the mounting plate and secure it in place.
5. Adjust Light Heads: Once mounted, adjust the three light heads to direct illumination to your desired areas.
6. Restore Power: Turn the power back on at the circuit breaker.

Operating Modes

The LUTEC motion sensor light offers four distinct lighting modes, selectable via controls on the sensor unit. The circular switch on the sensor independently controls the night light function.

• 1. Test Mode:

  Used for initial setup and testing. The light will turn on for a short duration when motion is detected, regardless of ambient light levels.

• 2. Security Mode:

  In this mode, the light remains off during the day. At night, it will illuminate at 100% brightness when motion is detected and turn off after motion ceases and the set time duration expires.
• 3. Dusk to Dawn Mode:

  The light automatically turns on at dusk. When motion is detected, it illuminates at 100% brightness. After motion leaves, it returns to a lower brightness (e.g., 20% brightness) for continuous ambient lighting throughout the night, turning off at dawn.

• 4. Manual Override Mode:

  Allows the light to operate constantly at 100% brightness for a selected duration (e.g., 6 hours), regardless of motion or ambient light. This mode is useful for extended illumination when needed.

Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your LUTEC motion sensor outdoor light, refer to the following common troubleshooting steps:

• Light Not Turning On (Motion Detection):
  • Check the sensitivity setting on the sensor. Ensure it is set to an appropriate range (L, M, or H) for your desired detection distance.
  • Verify that the light is in Security Mode or Dusk to Dawn Mode, not Manual Override or Test Mode.
  • Ensure there are no obstructions blocking the motion sensor's field of view.
  • Confirm that the ambient light is low enough for the sensor to activate (if not in Test Mode).
• Light Stays On Continuously:
  • Check if the light is in Manual Override Mode. If so, switch to Security or Dusk to Dawn Mode.
  • Ensure the motion sensor is not continuously detecting movement (e.g., from swaying branches, passing traffic, or small animals if sensitivity is too high). Adjust sensitivity if necessary.
  • Verify the time duration setting. The light will remain on for the set duration after the last detected motion.
• Night Light Not Functioning:
  • Ensure the circular ON/OFF switch for the night light is in the 'ON' position.
  • Confirm it is dark enough for the night light to activate (Dusk to Dawn functionality).
• Light Flickers or Does Not Illuminate Properly:
  • Check all electrical connections to ensure they are secure and properly insulated.
  • Verify that the power supply is stable.
  • If issues persist, consult a qualified electrician.
