Setup

1. Unpacking and Initial Inspection

  • Carefully remove the R.A.M System 1000 from its packaging.
  • Inspect the unit for any signs of damage during transit.
  • Confirm all accessories are present: R.A.M System 1000 unit, USB-C power cable.

2. Power Connection

  • Connect the provided USB-C cable to the USB-C port on the R.A.M System 1000.
  • Plug the other end of the USB-C cable into a compatible USB power adapter (not included) or a powered USB port on your computer.
  • The unit will power on automatically.

3. Audio Connections

The R.A.M System 1000 offers multiple input and output options:

Inputs:

  • Stereo Sources: Connect up to three stereo audio sources (e.g., audio interface, mixer outputs) to the designated input jacks.
  • Bluetooth: The unit features integrated Bluetooth for wireless audio streaming from compatible devices.

Outputs:

  • Studio Monitors: Connect up to two sets of stereo studio monitors to the dedicated output jacks.
  • Headphone Output: Plug your headphones into the high-quality headphone output.

Operating Instructions

1. Input Selection

  • Use the INPUT buttons (1, 2, 3) to select your desired audio source. Multiple inputs can be selected simultaneously for summing.
  • For Bluetooth input, ensure your device is paired with the R.A.M System 1000. The unit supports APTX, AAC, SBC, APTX LL, and APTX HD codecs.

2. Output Selection

  • Use the OUTPUT buttons (1, 2) to select which set of studio monitors you wish to monitor through. Both outputs can be active simultaneously.

3. Master Level Control

  • Adjust the large MASTER LEVEL knob to control the overall output volume to your selected studio monitors.

4. Headphone Level Control

  • The PHONES knob controls the volume of the headphone output.

5. Monitoring Functions

  • MONO: Press the MONO button to sum the stereo signal to mono. This is useful for checking phase compatibility and mix balance.
  • MUTE: Press the MUTE button to instantly silence all monitor outputs.
  • DIM: Press the DIM button to reduce the monitor output level by a fixed amount, allowing for quick conversation without completely muting the audio.

Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the exterior of the unit. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Ventilation: Ensure the unit has adequate ventilation and is not placed in an enclosed space that could lead to overheating.
  • Cable Management: Keep audio cables organized and free from kinks or excessive tension to prevent damage and maintain signal integrity.
