4.3 Step-by-Step Installation

  1. Prepare the Sink: Clean the faucet mounting area on the sink. If installing on a 3-hole sink, place the optional deck plate over the outer holes.
  2. Install Faucet: Insert the faucet body through the center hole of the sink (and deck plate, if used). Secure the faucet from underneath the sink using the provided mounting hardware. Ensure the faucet is properly aligned.
  3. Connect Supply Lines: The faucet comes with integrated InnoFlex PEX supply lines. Connect these lines to your hot and cold water supply valves. Hand-tighten, then tighten an additional 1/4 turn with a wrench. Do not overtighten.
  4. Install Drain Assembly: Follow the instructions provided with the pop-up drain assembly to install it into the sink drain hole. Ensure a watertight seal using plumber's putty or silicone sealant.
  5. Test for Leaks: Once all connections are secure, slowly turn on the main water supply. Check all connections for leaks. If leaks occur, tighten connections as needed.

5. Operation

The Delta Velum faucet features a single lever handle for controlling both water temperature and flow.

  • Water Flow: Lift the handle upwards to increase water flow. Push it downwards to decrease or turn off the water.
  • Temperature Control: Move the handle to the left for hot water and to the right for cold water. Adjust the position between left and right to achieve the desired water temperature.

This faucet is WaterSense labeled, meaning it is designed to conserve water without sacrificing performance. You may notice a slightly reduced flow rate compared to non-WaterSense faucets, which is intentional for water efficiency.

6. Maintenance and Care

Proper care will ensure the longevity and appearance of your Delta Faucet.

  • Cleaning the Finish: To maintain the matte black finish, clean with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners, harsh chemicals, or scouring pads, as these can damage the finish and void the warranty.
  • Aerator Maintenance: Periodically unscrew the aerator from the spout tip and rinse away any mineral deposits or debris. This helps maintain optimal water flow.
  • DIAMOND Seal Technology: The patented DIAMOND Seal Technology uses a diamond-coated ceramic disc valve, which eliminates wear on seals. This design reduces leak points and ensures leak-free operation for the life of the faucet, requiring minimal internal maintenance.
