1. Product Overview
The CPVAN Door/Window Contact Sensor is a wireless accessory designed to enhance your home security system. It detects the opening and closing of doors or windows and transmits a signal to a compatible CPVAN host, triggering an alarm. This sensor operates on a 433.92MHz frequency and is intended for indoor use.
2. Important Compatibility Note
This door/window sensor is only compatible with CPVAN Home Security Systems, specifically models CP2, CP2W, and CP9. It cannot function as a standalone device and requires one of these compatible hosts to operate. The sensor itself does not emit an alarm; it triggers the alarm on the connected host.

5. Setup and Installation
Follow these steps to install your CPVAN Door/Window Contact Sensor:
- Pair with Host: Before physical installation, ensure the sensor is successfully paired with your CPVAN CP2, CP2W, or CP9 Home Security System. Refer to your host system's manual for specific pairing instructions.
- Choose Location: Select a door or window where you wish to install the sensor. The sensor consists of two parts: a main sensor unit and a smaller magnetic unit.
- Clean Surface: Clean the installation surface thoroughly to ensure proper adhesion of the double-sided adhesive pads.
- Attach Main Unit: Peel the backing from one adhesive pad and attach it to the back of the larger main sensor unit. Mount this unit to the door or window frame.
- Attach Magnetic Unit: Peel the backing from the second adhesive pad and attach it to the back of the smaller magnetic unit. Mount this unit to the moving part of the door or window, aligning it with the main sensor unit.
- Ensure Proper Gap: The critical distance between the main sensor unit and the magnetic unit must be within 0.5 inches (approximately 2 cm) when the door or window is closed. If the gap is larger, the sensor may not function correctly.

Installation Examples:

6. Operating Instructions
Once installed and paired with your CPVAN host system, the door/window sensor operates automatically:
- When a protected door or window is opened, the magnetic unit separates from the main sensor unit.
- If the separation distance exceeds 0.5 inches, the sensor transmits a wireless signal to the paired CPVAN host.
- The host system, depending on its armed status and settings, will then trigger an alarm or send a notification.
- The sensor has a transmission range of up to 260 feet in open areas, allowing for flexible placement throughout your property.
7. Maintenance
Battery Replacement:
The sensor is powered by a 12V battery. When the indicator light on the sensor begins to flash continuously, it signifies a low battery and requires replacement.
- Carefully remove the main sensor unit from its mounting surface.
- Open the battery compartment (refer to the sensor's casing for latch or screw locations).
- Remove the old 12V battery.
- Insert a new 12V battery, ensuring correct polarity.
- Close the battery compartment and re-attach the sensor to its mounting surface.
Cleaning:
Wipe the sensor periodically with a soft, dry cloth to remove dust and dirt. Avoid using abrasive cleaners or solvents.
8. Troubleshooting
- Sensor not triggering alarm:
- Ensure the sensor is correctly paired with your CPVAN host system.
- Verify the gap between the main sensor and magnetic unit is within 0.5 inches when closed.
- Check the battery status. Replace the battery if the indicator light is flashing.
- Confirm the CPVAN host system is armed and configured to respond to the sensor's signal.
- Check for obstructions or excessive distance between the sensor and the host that might interfere with the wireless signal.
- Low battery indicator flashing:
- Replace the 12V battery as described in the Maintenance section.
- Sensor falling off mounting surface:
- Ensure the surface was clean and dry before installation.
- Re-apply with new, strong double-sided adhesive pads.
