1. Introduction

2. Safety Information

WARNING: To avoid fire, shock, or death, always turn off power at the circuit breaker or fuse and test that power is off before wiring. Improper installation can result in serious injury or damage.

  • This device is intended for installation in accordance with the National Electric Code and local regulations.
  • Do not use with non-dimmable bulbs. Using non-dimmable bulbs may cause damage to the dimmer or the bulbs.
  • Only one dimmer switch can be installed in a 3-way circuit. This dimmer cannot be used in a 4-way circuit.
  • Ensure the total wattage of connected bulbs does not exceed the dimmer's maximum capacity: 600W for incandescent/halogen, 200W for dimmable LED/CFL.
  • This dimmer requires no neutral wire for operation.
  • Do not use this dimmer to control ceiling fans or motor-driven appliances.

  • Power Button: Press to turn lights ON or OFF.
  • Luminance Indicator: 8 LED lights display the current brightness level.
  • Dimming Button (UP): Press to increase light brightness.
  • Dimming Button (Down): Press to decrease light brightness.
  • Maximum Brightness Button (Side): Adjusts the upper limit of the dimming range.

  • Air Gap Power Cut-off Switch (Side): Pull out to disconnect power to the switch and light for safe bulb replacement. Push back in to restore power.

5. Installation (Setup)

Before installation, ensure you have read and understood all safety warnings. Installation procedures for 3-way wiring differ from standard single-pole wiring. It is recommended to watch the instructional video if available.

5.1 Wiring Diagrams

The BESTTEN dimmer switch is designed for both single-pole and 3-way applications. In 3-way applications, smart-chip technology allows the use of a standard single-pole switch in the other location. Only one dimmer switch can be installed per 3-way circuit.

5.2 Installation Steps

  1. Turn Off Power: At the circuit breaker or fuse box, turn off the power to the switch location. Verify power is off using a voltage tester.
  2. Remove Old Switch: Carefully remove the existing wallplate and switch from the wall box. Disconnect the wires from the old switch.
  3. Identify Wires: Identify the Line (hot), Load, Ground, and Traveler wires (for 3-way installations). Refer to the wiring diagram.
  4. Connect Wires: Connect the wires to the new BESTTEN dimmer switch according to the appropriate wiring diagram for your setup (single-pole or 3-way). Use wire nuts to secure connections. The compact slim design of the dimmer facilitates installation in crowded electrical boxes.
  5. Mount Dimmer: Gently push the wired dimmer switch into the wall box. Secure it with the provided mounting screws.
  6. Install Wallplate: Attach the screwless wallplate over the dimmer switch.
  7. Restore Power: Turn the power back on at the circuit breaker.

6. Operating Instructions

6.1 Basic Operation

  • Turn ON/OFF: Press the large Power Button to toggle the lights on or off.
  • Adjust Brightness: Press the UP or DOWN dimming buttons to gradually increase or decrease the light intensity. The 8 LED indicators will show the current brightness level.
  • Quick Maximum Brightness: Press the UP button twice quickly to instantly set the lights to maximum brightness.
  • Quick Minimum Brightness: Press the DOWN button twice quickly to instantly set the lights to the lowest dimmable setting.

6.2 Air Gap Power Cut-off Switch

The air gap switch is located on the side of the dimmer. Pull this switch out to completely cut power to the light fixture, allowing for safe bulb replacement or maintenance without needing to turn off the circuit breaker. Push the switch back in to restore power.

6.3 Adjusting Minimum and Maximum Brightness Levels

To optimize performance and prevent flickering with different bulb types, you can adjust the dimmer's minimum and maximum brightness settings:

  1. Set Minimum Brightness: Press the UP or DOWN button to adjust the brightness until the lowest desired light level is achieved and the lights are not flickering. Then, press the main power button 6 times quickly. The dimmer will save this as the new minimum brightness level.
  2. Set Maximum Brightness: Similarly, adjust the brightness to the highest desired level. Then, press the main power button 6 times quickly. The dimmer will save this as the new maximum brightness level.

7. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: To clean the dimmer switch and wallplate, wipe with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners, solvents, or harsh chemicals, as these may damage the finish or internal components.
  • No User-Serviceable Parts: The dimmer switch contains no user-serviceable parts. Do not attempt to disassemble or repair the unit. Contact customer support if the device malfunctions.

8. Troubleshooting
