2. Safety Information

Please read and understand all safety warnings and instructions before assembling and using this product. Failure to follow these instructions may result in product damage, property damage, or serious injury.

  • Weight Capacity: Do not exceed the maximum load capacity of 150 lbs (68 kg) for the roof rack. Also, adhere to your vehicle's manufacturer-specified roof load capacity.
  • Secure Cargo: Always ensure all cargo is securely fastened to the roof rack using appropriate tie-downs or cargo nets. Loose cargo can shift during transit, causing hazards.
  • Vehicle Stability: Be aware that adding a roof rack and cargo can affect your vehicle's center of gravity, handling, and fuel efficiency. Drive cautiously, especially when cornering or in windy conditions.
  • Clearance: Always check overhead clearance when driving with the roof rack installed, especially in garages, car washes, and low-clearance areas.
  • Regular Inspection: Periodically check all mounting hardware and connections to ensure they are tight and secure.
  • Rust Prevention: While the powder coat is rust-resistant, it is recommended to park your car indoors and consider using truck bedliner paint for enhanced rust protection, especially in harsh environments.

5. Installation on Vehicle

This roof rack is designed to mount onto most existing roof-rack crossbars using U-bolts.

5.1. Attaching the Mounting Brackets

  1. Carefully lift the assembled roof rack onto your vehicle's existing crossbars. Position it centrally and ensure even weight distribution.
  2. Place the U-bolts around your vehicle's crossbars and through the designated holes on the bottom of the roof rack.
  3. Secure the U-bolts with the provided mounting brackets, washers, and hand-tightened nuts from underneath the crossbars. Ensure the plastic spacer piece is snapped to the rack before sliding the U-bolts.
  4. Tighten all four U-bolt assemblies evenly. Periodically check the tightness of these bolts, especially after the first few drives, and retighten as necessary.

6. Operation

The WEIZE Roof Rack is designed to safely transport various items, expanding your vehicle's cargo capacity.

  • Loading Cargo: Distribute weight evenly across the rack. Place heavier items at the bottom and center of the rack.
  • Securing Cargo: Always use strong tie-down straps, bungee cords, or a cargo net to secure your items. Ensure there is no movement or shifting of cargo during transit.
  • Aerodynamics: The integrated wind fairing helps reduce wind noise and resistance. For optimal performance, ensure it is correctly installed.

7. Maintenance

Regular maintenance will ensure the longevity and safe operation of your WEIZE Roof Rack.

  • Cleaning: Clean the rack regularly with mild soap and water to remove dirt, road grime, and salt. Rinse thoroughly and dry to prevent water spots and corrosion.
  • Hardware Check: Before each use, inspect all bolts, nuts, and mounting points for tightness. Retighten any loose fasteners.
  • Corrosion Inspection: Periodically check the powder-coated finish for any chips or scratches that could expose the steel to moisture and lead to rust. Touch up any damaged areas with appropriate paint.
  • Storage: If not in use for extended periods, consider removing the roof rack and storing it indoors to protect it from harsh weather conditions.

8. Troubleshooting

Here are some common issues and their solutions:

  • Excessive Wind Noise: Ensure the wind fairing is correctly installed and securely fastened. Check that all rack components are tightly assembled.
  • Rack Feels Loose: Re-check all U-bolt connections and other assembly hardware. Tighten any loose bolts. Ensure the rack is properly seated on your vehicle's crossbars.
  • Missing or Defective Components: If you encounter missing or defective parts during assembly, contact WEIZE customer service for free replacements.
