Installation
Tools Required:
- Screwdriver (Phillips and/or Flathead)
- Wire Strippers
- Electrical Tape (optional)
- Voltage Tester (recommended)
Wiring Instructions:
- Turn Off Power: Locate the circuit breaker or fuse that controls the switch you are replacing or the circuit where you are installing the new switch. Turn it OFF. Verify power is off using a voltage tester.
- Remove Old Switch (if applicable): Carefully remove the wallplate and unscrew the old switch from the electrical box. Disconnect the wires, noting their connections.
- Identify Wires:
- Hot/Line Wire (Black Screw): This wire brings power to the switch.
- Load Wire (Black Screw): This wire carries power from the switch to the light fixture.
- Traveler Wires (Brass Screws): For 3-way circuits, these wires connect the two 3-way switches. There will be two traveler wires.
- Ground Wire (Green Screw): This is the safety ground wire, typically bare copper or green insulated.
- Connect Wires to New Switch: The BESTTEN 3-Way switch offers both side wiring (screw terminals) and quick push-in wiring (for 14 AWG solid copper wire only).
- Connect the ground wire to the green screw terminal.
