4.1 Battery Charging

  1. Connect the charger to a standard power outlet.

  3. Allow the battery to charge fully. The indicator light on the charger will change (e.g., from red to green) when charging is complete.
  4. Disconnect the charger from the power outlet and remove the battery.

Note: For optimal battery life, fully charge the battery before first use and after each use. If storing for a long period, ensure the battery is fully charged.

4.2 Chain and Guide Bar Installation (Tool-Free)

The Saker Mini Chainsaw features a tool-free chain installation and tension adjustment system.

  1. Ensure the battery is removed from the chainsaw.
  2. Locate the cover knob on the side of the chainsaw. Rotate it counter-clockwise to loosen and remove the cover.
  3. Place the chain around the guide bar, ensuring the cutting teeth are facing the correct direction (refer to the arrow on the guide bar or chainsaw body).
  4. Align the guide bar with the sprocket on the chainsaw body and fit the chain into the groove of the sprocket.
  5. Replace the cover, ensuring the guide bar pin fits into the hole on the guide bar.
  6. Rotate the cover knob clockwise to secure the cover.
  7. Adjust the chain tension using the chain tension knob. The chain should be snug but still able to be pulled slightly away from the guide bar (about 2-3mm).
  8. Once tension is set, tighten the bar tightening knob (if present) to lock the guide bar in place.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Pre-Operation Checklist

  • Ensure battery is fully charged and securely inserted.
  • Verify chain tension is correct.
  • Confirm all safety features (e.g., safety lock) are functional.
  • Wear appropriate PPE (safety glasses, gloves).
  • Clear the work area of debris and bystanders.

5.2 Starting and Stopping

  1. To Start: Press and hold the safety lock button (usually located near the trigger) with your thumb, then squeeze the trigger switch with your fingers. The chain will begin to rotate.
  2. To Stop: Release the trigger switch. The chain will stop rotating.

5.3 Cutting Techniques

  • Hold Firmly: Always hold the chainsaw with both hands, maintaining a firm grip.
  • Positioning: Stand to the side of the cutting path, not directly behind the chainsaw.
  • Cutting: Allow the chainsaw to do the work. Do not force it. Apply light, steady pressure.
  • Avoid Kickback: Never cut with the tip of the guide bar. Always use the bottom edge of the guide bar for cutting. Be aware of branches under tension.
  • Maximum Cutting Diameter: The 6-inch guide bar allows for cutting branches up to approximately 6 inches in diameter. For larger branches, make multiple cuts or use a different tool.

6. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and safe operation of your Saker Mini Chainsaw.

6.1 Cleaning

  • After Each Use: Remove the battery. Use a brush or compressed air to clean sawdust and debris from the guide bar, chain, and motor housing.
  • Guide Bar Groove: Periodically clean the groove of the guide bar to ensure smooth chain movement.

6.2 Chain Sharpening and Replacement

  • Sharpening: A dull chain will reduce cutting efficiency and increase strain on the motor. Sharpen the chain regularly using a suitable round file or have it professionally sharpened.
  • Replacement: Replace the chain when it becomes excessively worn, damaged, or cannot be sharpened effectively. Refer to Section 4.2 for chain replacement instructions.

6.3 Storage

  • Long-Term Storage: Remove the battery from the chainsaw. Clean the tool thoroughly. Store in a dry, secure place out of reach of children.
  • Battery Storage: Store batteries in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Ensure batteries are fully charged before long-term storage.
