1. Introduction

The OTTOCAST MX is a versatile 3-in-1 wireless adapter designed to enhance your in-car connectivity. It seamlessly converts wired CarPlay and Android Auto to their wireless counterparts, and also supports AirPlay for iOS devices. With its advanced features like Auto Reconnect, Plug & Play, and Online Upgrade, the MX adapter provides a stable and smooth user experience.

Important Note: Your vehicle must be factory-installed with wired CarPlay or Android Auto for this adapter to function. This device is not compatible with BMW/Tesla vehicles or Sony Aftermarket Head-units. It does not support mirroring of Netflix, Hulu, or Disney content. Huawei, Xiaomi, and Redmi phones are also not supported.

3. Setup Guide

The OTTOCAST MX adapter is designed for plug-and-play convenience. Follow these steps for initial setup:

1. Connect the Adapter: Plug the OTTOCAST MX adapter into your car's USB port that supports wired CarPlay or Android Auto.
2. Enable Bluetooth & Wi-Fi: On your smartphone, ensure both Bluetooth and Wi-Fi are turned on.
3. Pair with Adapter: Go to your phone's Bluetooth settings and search for available devices. Select and pair with "AdapterMX-XXXX" (where XXXX is a unique identifier).
4. Automatic Connection: After successful pairing, the adapter will automatically connect to your phone and launch Wireless CarPlay or Android Auto on your car's display.

4.1. Wireless CarPlay and Android Auto

Once connected, the OTTOCAST MX provides a seamless wireless experience for both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Your car's display will show the familiar interface, allowing you to access navigation, music, calls, and other apps without needing a USB cable.

4.2. AirPlay (Screen Mirroring for iOS)

The adapter supports AirPlay, allowing you to mirror your iPhone's screen onto your car's display. This feature is particularly useful for viewing content from apps like YouTube. Please remember that AirPlay functionality requires an iPhone and a car with wired CarPlay.

Note: Due to copyright restrictions, streaming services like Netflix, Hulu, and Disney+ cannot be mirrored via AirPlay.

4.3. Smart Button Functionality

The OTTOCAST MX features a smart button for quick mode switching and disconnection:

• Press Once: Disconnects the currently connected phone. This is useful if you want to switch to another phone. Ensure the Bluetooth status of the originally connected phone is off, or leave its Bluetooth/Wi-Fi switch off.
• Press Twice: Enters AirPlay mode. This allows you to quickly switch from CarPlay/Android Auto to screen mirroring.

4.4. Retaining Original Car Controls

The OTTOCAST MX adapter allows you to continue using your car's original control methods, including voice control (Siri/Google Assistant), steering wheel controls, knob control, and touchscreen functionality, for a familiar and integrated experience.

• AirPlay Not Working / Laggy:
  • Confirm you are using an iPhone and your car has wired CarPlay.
  • Ensure you are not attempting to mirror copyrighted content from unsupported apps (e.g., Netflix, Hulu, Disney+).
  • Check your Wi-Fi connection stability.
• Incompatibility Issues:
  • This adapter is not compatible with BMW/Tesla vehicles or Sony Aftermarket Head-units.
  • Huawei, Xiaomi, and Redmi phones are not supported for wireless Android Auto.
  • Wired Android Auto cannot be converted to wireless CarPlay. Please ensure you have the correct wired system for the desired wireless function.
