3. Setup
3.1 Powering the Unit
The KR11 can be powered by either AA batteries or an optional AC adapter.
- Batteries: Insert four (4) AA batteries into the battery compartment located on the underside of the unit. Ensure correct polarity.
- AC Adapter: Connect a compatible DC 9V AC adapter (sold separately) to the DC 9V input jack on the rear of the unit.
3.2 Audio Connections
The KR11 features a built-in speaker for immediate playback. For private listening or connecting to external audio systems, use the following ports:
- Headphone/Line-Out Jack: Connect headphones to this jack for private monitoring. Alternatively, use this output to connect the KR11 to an external amplifier, mixer, or recording device.

3.3 Footswitch Connection
Two footswitch inputs (1 and 2) are provided for hands-free control during performance.
- Connect optional footswitches to the FOOT SW 1 and FOOT SW 2 jacks on the rear of the unit.
- These can be configured to control functions such as start/stop, pattern change, or fill-in operations. Refer to the Operating Instructions for configuration details.

4. Operating Instructions
4.1 Power On/Off
- To power on, press and hold the POWER button (if available, otherwise assume automatic power on with power source).
- To power off, press and hold the POWER button until the unit shuts down.
4.2 Volume Adjustment
- Use the VOL knob to adjust the overall output volume of the unit.
4.3 Pattern Selection
The KR11 offers 126 preset patterns and 14 user preset slots.
- Rotate the GENRE knob to select a genre (e.g., Rock, Blues/R&B, Jazz/Latin, EDM, Country, Island, 16 Beat, 8 Beat, 3/5/7, Metronome, User).
- Press one of the 16 PADS (1-14 for patterns, 15-16 for fills) to select a pattern within the chosen genre.

4.4 Tempo Adjustment
- Use the TEMPO knob to precisely adjust the beats per minute (BPM).
- Alternatively, press the TAP button in time with your desired tempo to set the BPM.

4.5 Using Velocity-Sensitive Pads
- The 16 pads are velocity-sensitive, meaning the sound's intensity changes based on how hard you press them. This allows for expressive finger drumming.
4.6 User Preset Slots
- To save a customized pattern, select the 'User' genre with the GENRE knob.
- Press and hold the MODE button, then press one of the 14 pads (1-14) to save your current pattern to that slot.
- To recall a user pattern, select the 'User' genre and press the corresponding pad.
4.7 Metronome Function
- Select 'Metronome' with the GENRE knob to activate the built-in metronome for timing practice.
4.8 Pedal Switch Functions
- The optional pedal switches can be configured to:
- Start/Stop pattern playback.
- Change patterns.
- Trigger fill-in patterns.

5. Maintenance
5.1 Cleaning
- Wipe the unit with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners, waxes, or solvents.
5.2 Battery Replacement
- When battery power is low, the unit's performance may degrade. Replace all four AA batteries with new ones.
- If the unit will not be used for an extended period, remove the batteries to prevent leakage and damage.
5.3 Storage
- Store the unit in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, extreme temperatures, and high humidity.

6.1 No Sound Output
- Check the VOL knob and ensure it is turned up.
- Verify that headphones or external speakers are properly connected and their volume is adjusted.
- Ensure a pattern is selected and playback is active.
6.2 Unit Not Powering On
- If using batteries, check if they are correctly inserted and not depleted. Replace if necessary.
