2. Safety Information

3. Installation and Setup

3.1 Mechanical Installation

Mount the driver securely in a location that allows for adequate airflow and is protected from excessive heat or direct sunlight. Refer to the mechanical specifications for dimensions and mounting hole details.

3.2 Electrical Connections

Connect the driver according to the wiring diagram. Ensure correct polarity for DC output and proper AC input connections.

  • AC Input: Connect the AC Live (L), Neutral (N), and Ground (FG) wires to the corresponding terminals on the driver.
  • DC Output: Connect the LED fixture to the V+ (positive) and V- (negative) output terminals.
  • Dimming (B-Type): For dimmable models (HLG-240H-24B), connect the DIM+ and DIM- wires to your dimming control system.

4. Operating Instructions

The HLG-240H-24B operates in both Constant Voltage (CV) and Constant Current (CC) modes, providing flexibility for various LED applications. The dimming function allows for adjustable light output.

4.1 Driving Methods of LED Module

This series is capable of operating in either Constant Current mode (direct drive) or Constant Voltage mode (using additional DC/DC drivers). The highest voltage at the output depends on the configuration of the end system. For compatibility issues, consult MEAN WELL.

4.2 Dimming Operation (B-Type)

The HLG-240H-24B (B-Type) supports 3-in-1 dimming functions: 1-10VDC, 10V PWM signal, or resistance. Output constant current level can be adjusted by applying one of these methodologies between DIM+ and DIM-.

  • Applying Additive 1-10VDC: Connect a 1-10VDC signal between DIM+ and DIM-.
  • Applying Additive 10V PWM Signal: Connect a 10V PWM signal (frequency range 100Hz ~ 3KHz) between DIM+ and DIM-.
  • Applying Additive Resistance: Connect a variable resistance between DIM+ and DIM-.

Note: Dimming source current from power supply is 100µA (typ.). Connecting DIM- to -V is not recommended.

5. Maintenance

6. Troubleshooting

If the LED driver is not functioning as expected, refer to the following common issues and solutions. Always disconnect power before performing any troubleshooting steps.

  • No Output Power:
    • Check AC input voltage and connections.
    • Verify that the circuit breaker or fuse is not tripped.
    • Ensure the load is within the driver's specifications.
  • LEDs Flickering or Dim:
    • Check output connections for loose wires or incorrect polarity.
    • Verify dimming signal (if applicable) is stable and within range.
    • Ensure the driver is not overheating; check ventilation.
  • Driver Overheating:
    • Ensure adequate airflow around the unit.
    • Verify the ambient temperature is within the specified operating range.
    • Check if the load exceeds the driver's maximum power rating.
  • Protection Features: The HLG-240H series includes built-in protections:
    • Over Current Protection: Recovers automatically after fault condition is removed.
    • Short Circuit Protection: Hiccup mode, recovers automatically after fault condition is removed.
    • Over Voltage Protection: Shuts down and latches off, requires power-on to recover.
    • Over Temperature Protection: Shuts down and latches off, requires power-on to recover.
