4. Setup

4.1 Power Source

The OSALO OS-8812T calculator operates using a dual power system: solar energy and a single LR44 battery. The calculator will automatically switch to battery power in low light conditions.

Battery Installation/Replacement:

  1. Ensure the calculator is turned off.
  2. Locate the battery compartment on the back of the calculator.
  3. Use a small screwdriver to open the battery cover.
  4. Insert one LR44 battery, ensuring the correct polarity (+/-).
  5. Replace the battery cover and secure it.

4.2 Initial Use

Press the AC (All Clear) button to clear any previous calculations and ensure the display shows '0'. The calculator is now ready for use.

Perform addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division using the respective keys (+, -, ×, ÷) and the equals (=) key.

  1. Press AC to clear the display.
  2. Press the RATE button.

  • TAX+: To add tax to an amount, enter the amount, then press TAX+. The display will show the amount including tax.
  • TAX-: To subtract tax from an amount, enter the amount, then press TAX-. The display will show the amount excluding tax.
  • RECALL: To check the currently set tax rate, press RECALL.

5.3 Memory Functions

  • M+: Adds the displayed value to the memory.
  • M-: Subtracts the displayed value from the memory.
  • MRC: Recalls the memory content. Pressing it twice clears the memory.
  • GT (Grand Total): Accumulates the results of all calculations. Pressing it twice clears the grand total.

5.4 Other Functions

  • %: Percentage key.
  • √: Square root key.
  • Back Space (►): Deletes the last entered digit.
  • C/CE: Clear Entry. Clears the last entry without clearing the entire calculation.
