1. Introduction

2. Safety Information

Please read all safety instructions before using the SOSALUK Live Trap. Proper handling ensures both user safety and the humane treatment of captured animals.

• Always handle the trap with care. While designed to be injury-free for animals, it is a mechanical device.
• When setting bait or releasing an animal, wear protective gloves to prevent direct contact with the animal and to avoid transferring human scent to the trap, which can deter rodents.

4. Setup and Baiting

Setting up your SOSALUK Live Trap is quick and easy. Follow these steps for optimal performance:

1. Unpack: Carefully remove the trap from its packaging.
2. Prepare the Door: Pull the door lock (latch bar) upwards to disengage it from the door.
3. Set the Door: Pass the arm bar through the door handle and press down firmly to hold the door open. Ensure the arm bar is securely positioned.
4. Engage Trigger: Insert the end of the arm bar into the trigger hole, which is connected to the pedal inside the trap. This holds the door open and sets the trigger mechanism.
5. Place Bait: Place a small amount of attractive bait on the pedal or bait hook inside the trap.

5. Operation

Once the trap is set and baited, place it in an area where rodent activity has been observed. Ensure the trap is placed on a flat, stable surface.

How the Trap Works:

The SOSALUK Live Trap features a highly sensitive triggering mechanism. When a rodent enters the trap and steps on the pedal to access the bait, the pedal mechanism is activated. This releases the arm bar from the trigger hole, causing the cage door to automatically close and lock, safely trapping the animal inside.

Checking the Trap:

It is crucial to check the trap at least once daily, preferably in the morning. This minimizes stress to the captured animal and allows for timely release.

Releasing the Animal:

When an animal is caught, transport the trap to a suitable release location, ideally several kilometers away from your property to prevent its return. Choose an area with natural cover and away from human habitation. To release, simply lift the door handle and open the cage door, allowing the animal to exit safely.

  • Verify that the bait is placed directly on the pedal, requiring the animal to step on it to reach the bait.
  • Check for any obstructions preventing the pedal from moving freely or the door from closing.
• Animal Escapes After Triggering:
  • Ensure the automatic door lock (latch bar) is positioned correctly to fall and secure the door once it closes. Sometimes, the latch bar might be slightly misaligned or stuck. Make sure it can freely drop into place.
  • Inspect the trap for any gaps or damage to the wire mesh that an animal could exploit.
• Animals Avoiding the Trap:
  • Try different types of bait. Rodents can be particular about their food preferences.
  • Ensure the trap is clean and free of human scent. Use gloves when handling.
  • Relocate the trap to a different area where signs of rodent activity are more prevalent.
