1. Introduction
The SOSALUK Live Trap is designed for the humane and effective capture of small rodents such as mice, rats, voles, and similar-sized animals. This reusable trap allows for the safe capture and subsequent release of animals without causing injury, making it an ideal solution for pest control in both indoor and outdoor environments. Its robust construction ensures durability and long-term use.

This image shows two SOSALUK live traps made of metal mesh. One trap is closed, and a rat is depicted next to it, illustrating the trap's purpose. The other trap is open, showing the entry mechanism and bait area, ready for deployment.
2. Safety Information
Please read all safety instructions before using the SOSALUK Live Trap. Proper handling ensures both user safety and the humane treatment of captured animals.
- Always handle the trap with care. While designed to be injury-free for animals, it is a mechanical device.
- When setting bait or releasing an animal, wear protective gloves to prevent direct contact with the animal and to avoid transferring human scent to the trap, which can deter rodents.
- Keep the trap away from small children and pets when in use, even though it is designed to be safer than traditional traps or poisons.
- Check the trap daily. Leaving an animal trapped for extended periods can cause stress and dehydration.
- Release captured animals in a suitable, remote location away from residential areas.

Figure 2.1: General Warning Information
This image displays a warning symbol (exclamation mark in a triangle) and a symbol indicating "0-3" with a crossed-out child's head, signifying not suitable for children under 3 years. Below these symbols, text in multiple languages warns about choking hazards due to small parts or plastic bags. This product is not a toy.

Figure 2.2: Safety for Children and Pets
This image illustrates the product's safety advantage over other pest control methods. It shows a child and a dog in a home environment, with the live trap in the background. Below, icons depict dangerous alternatives such as electric traps, traditional snap traps, and poison, highlighting the live trap as a safer choice for households with children and pets.
3. Product Components
Familiarize yourself with the different parts of your SOSALUK Live Trap:

Figure 3.1: Labeled Components of the Trap
This diagram provides a clear view of the live trap with its key components labeled for easy identification. These include the Cage Door, Automatic Door Lock (latch bar), Door Handle, Arm Bar, Pedal, Bait Hook, and Trigger Hole.
- Cage Door: The entry and exit point for the animal.
- Automatic Door Lock (Latch Bar): Secures the door once triggered.
- Door Handle: Used to lift and set the door.
- Arm Bar: Connects the door mechanism to the trigger pedal.
- Pedal: The pressure-sensitive plate inside the trap that triggers the door.
- Bait Hook: Where bait is placed, often integrated with the pedal.
- Trigger Hole: The point where the arm bar engages to hold the door open.
4. Setup and Baiting
Setting up your SOSALUK Live Trap is quick and easy. Follow these steps for optimal performance:
- Unpack: Carefully remove the trap from its packaging.
- Prepare the Door: Pull the door lock (latch bar) upwards to disengage it from the door.
- Set the Door: Pass the arm bar through the door handle and press down firmly to hold the door open. Ensure the arm bar is securely positioned.
- Engage Trigger: Insert the end of the arm bar into the trigger hole, which is connected to the pedal inside the trap. This holds the door open and sets the trigger mechanism.
- Place Bait: Place a small amount of attractive bait on the pedal or bait hook inside the trap.

Figure 4.1: Installation Method
This visual guide demonstrates the four simple steps to set up the live trap. Step 1 shows pulling the door lock upwards. Step 2 illustrates passing the arm bar through the door handle and pressing it down. Step 3 depicts inserting the arm bar into the trigger hole. Step 4 shows placing bait on the pedal, indicating the trap is now ready.
Recommended Bait Options:
Rodents are attracted to various foods. Effective baits include:
- Peanut butter
- Cheese
- Bread or crackers
- Small pieces of fruit (e.g., peach, apple)
- Nuts or seeds

Figure 4.2: Suitable Bait Options
This image displays common and effective bait options that can be used with the live trap. These include bread, peanut butter, cheese, and various fruits, suggesting a range of attractants for different rodents.
5. Operation
Once the trap is set and baited, place it in an area where rodent activity has been observed. Ensure the trap is placed on a flat, stable surface.
How the Trap Works:
The SOSALUK Live Trap features a highly sensitive triggering mechanism. When a rodent enters the trap and steps on the pedal to access the bait, the pedal mechanism is activated. This releases the arm bar from the trigger hole, causing the cage door to automatically close and lock, safely trapping the animal inside.
Checking the Trap:
It is crucial to check the trap at least once daily, preferably in the morning. This minimizes stress to the captured animal and allows for timely release.
Releasing the Animal:
When an animal is caught, transport the trap to a suitable release location, ideally several kilometers away from your property to prevent its return. Choose an area with natural cover and away from human habitation. To release, simply lift the door handle and open the cage door, allowing the animal to exit safely.

Figure 5.1: Humane Release and Reusability
This image depicts the humane aspect of the trap, showing a hand opening the trap door in a natural, wooded environment, with a chipmunk nearby. The accompanying text emphasizes releasing the animal in a suitable location and then cleaning and drying the trap for reuse.
6. Maintenance
The SOSALUK Live Trap is designed for durability and reusability. Proper maintenance will extend its lifespan and effectiveness.
- Cleaning: After each capture and release, clean the trap thoroughly with water. This removes any scent left by the previous occupant, which could deter other rodents.
- Drying: Ensure the trap is completely dry before storing or reusing it to prevent rust and maintain hygiene.
- Storage: Store the trap in a dry place when not in use.
- Inspection: Periodically inspect the trap for any damage or wear to the wire mesh or moving parts. While made of robust alloy steel, extreme conditions or prolonged use might cause minor issues.
7. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your SOSALUK Live Trap, consider the following:
- Trap Not Triggering:
- Ensure the arm bar is correctly inserted into the trigger hole and is holding the door open securely but with enough tension to release easily.
- Verify that the bait is placed directly on the pedal, requiring the animal to step on it to reach the bait.
- Check for any obstructions preventing the pedal from moving freely or the door from closing.
- Animal Escapes After Triggering:
- Ensure the automatic door lock (latch bar) is positioned correctly to fall and secure the door once it closes. Sometimes, the latch bar might be slightly misaligned or stuck. Make sure it can freely drop into place.
- Inspect the trap for any gaps or damage to the wire mesh that an animal could exploit.
- Animals Avoiding the Trap:
- Try different types of bait. Rodents can be particular about their food preferences.
- Ensure the trap is clean and free of human scent. Use gloves when handling.
- Relocate the trap to a different area where signs of rodent activity are more prevalent.
