Installation and User Manual

1. Safety Information

Please read all instructions carefully before installation and use. Improper installation or use can lead to product failure, damage to your motorcycle, or personal injury. Always wear appropriate safety gear when working on your motorcycle.

  • Ensure all fasteners are securely tightened according to manufacturer specifications.
  • Regularly inspect handguards for any signs of wear, damage, or loose components.
  • Do not modify the handguards or use them for purposes other than intended.
  • If you are unsure about any part of the installation process, consult a qualified motorcycle mechanic.

2. Product Overview

The AILEO Motorcycle Hand Guards are designed to provide protection for the rider's hands and the motorcycle's levers and controls from wind, debris, and minor impacts. They are specifically designed for BMW G310GS and G310R models from 2017 to 2023.

Figure 2.1: AILEO Motorcycle Hand Guards and Components. This image displays the complete handguard assembly as it would appear on a motorcycle, alongside the individual components including the main guard body, mounting arms, and various screws, washers, and nuts required for installation.

2.1 Package Contents

Verify that all components are present before beginning installation:

  • 2 x Handguard Shields (Left and Right)
  • 2 x Mounting Arms/Brackets (Left and Right)
  • 1 x Hardware Kit (various bolts, washers, nuts, and spacers)

3. Installation Instructions

The following steps outline the general installation process. Specific details may vary slightly depending on your motorcycle's exact configuration. Ensure the motorcycle is stable on a stand before proceeding.

3.1 Tools Required

  • Hex key set (Allen wrenches)
  • Wrench set
  • Torque wrench (recommended for final tightening)
  • Thread-locking compound (optional, recommended for critical fasteners)

3.2 Step-by-Step Installation

  1. Prepare the Handlebar: If your motorcycle has existing bar-end weights or handguards, remove them. Clean the handlebar area where the new handguards will be mounted.
  2. Assemble Mounting Brackets: Attach the appropriate mounting arm to each handguard shield using the provided smaller screws and washers. Ensure the orientation is correct for left and right sides. Do not fully tighten yet.
  3. Attach to Handlebar:
    • Identify the handlebar clamp points. These handguards typically mount to the handlebar near the controls and at the bar end.
    • For the inner clamp, use the provided clamp mechanism to secure the mounting arm to the handlebar. Position it to allow full movement of brake/clutch levers and other controls.
    • For the bar end, insert the expansion bolt assembly into the end of the handlebar. Tighten the bolt to expand the anchor inside the handlebar, securing the handguard.
  4. Adjust Position: Loosely fit both handguards. Sit on the motorcycle and adjust the angle and position of each handguard to ensure maximum protection and clearance for your hands and controls (brake lever, clutch lever, mirrors). Ensure the handguards do not interfere with the full range of motion of the steering or controls.
  5. Final Tightening: Once satisfied with the position, progressively tighten all mounting bolts. Start with the bar-end bolts, then the inner handlebar clamps. Refer to your motorcycle's service manual or a qualified mechanic for specific torque values if available. Over-tightening can damage components.
  6. Final Check: After tightening, re-check all connections. Ensure the handguards are secure and do not rotate or shift. Verify that all controls (throttle, brake, clutch) operate freely and without obstruction throughout their full range of motion. Turn the handlebars lock-to-lock to confirm no interference with the tank or other parts of the motorcycle.

4. Operating and Use

Once properly installed, the AILEO Motorcycle Hand Guards require no special operation. They are designed to provide passive protection. Enjoy enhanced comfort and safety during your rides.

  • Wind and Weather Protection: The handguards deflect wind, rain, and cold air, contributing to rider comfort, especially in adverse weather conditions.
  • Debris Protection: They shield your hands and controls from flying stones, bugs, and other road debris.
  • Lever Protection: In the event of a minor tip-over or fall, the handguards can help protect your brake and clutch levers from damage.

5. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and effectiveness of your handguards.

  • Cleaning: Clean the handguards regularly with mild soap and water. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents that could damage the material or finish.
  • Inspection: Periodically check all mounting bolts for tightness. Inspect the handguard shields and mounting arms for cracks, bends, or other damage. Replace any damaged components immediately.
  • Post-Impact Check: After any impact or fall, thoroughly inspect the handguards and their mounting points for damage, even if it appears minor.

6. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your handguards, consider the following:

IssuePossible CauseSolution
Handguards are loose or vibrate.Mounting bolts are not sufficiently tightened.Re-tighten all mounting bolts, ensuring they are secure. Consider using thread-locking compound.
Interference with levers or controls.Incorrect positioning during installation.Loosen mounting bolts, adjust the handguard position to ensure full clearance, then re-tighten.
Handguards appear damaged after a minor impact.Material stress or direct impact.Inspect for cracks or structural compromise. Replace damaged components to maintain protection.
