4.2 Voice Control (Alexa & Google Assistant)

  • Link Tuya to Voice Assistant: In your Alexa or Google Home app, enable the "Tuya Smart" skill/service and link your Tuya account.
  • Discover Devices: Ask your voice assistant to discover new devices. Your blinds connected to the Smart Hub should appear.
  • Voice Commands: Use commands such as:
    • "Alexa, open the living room blinds."
    • "Hey Google, close the kitchen shade."
    • "Alexa, set bedroom blinds to 50%."

Recommendation: For optimal performance and to avoid control failures due to obstructions, it is recommended to use one Smart Hub per room, especially in larger homes or those with multiple walls between the hub and blinds.

5. Maintenance

The CITOLEN Smart Hub requires minimal maintenance.

  • Cleaning: If cleaning is necessary, gently wipe the device with a dry, soft cloth. Do not use liquid cleaners or abrasive materials.
  • Product Care Instructions: Spot Clean Only.
  • Environment: Keep the hub in a dry environment, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.

6. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your CITOLEN Smart Hub, please refer to the following common problems and solutions:

  • Hub not powering on:
Ensure the USB power adapter is functioning correctly and provides DC 5V/1A. Try a different USB port or adapter.
  • Hub not found by Tuya App:
Verify your phone is connected to a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network. Ensure the hub is in pairing mode (flashing indicator light). Try restarting the hub by unplugging and re-plugging it.
  • Blinds not responding to hub commands:
Check if the blinds are properly paired with the hub in the Tuya App. Ensure the hub is within the effective communication range (less than 26 ft for infrared). Obstructions like walls can weaken the signal. Consider repositioning the hub or using one hub per room.
  • Voice control not working:
Confirm that the "Tuya Smart" skill/service is enabled and linked in your Alexa or Google Home app. Ensure your voice assistant device is online and can communicate with the Tuya service. Verify the names of your blinds in the Tuya App match the names used in voice commands.
  • Intermittent control or commands not always executing:
This can sometimes occur due to signal interference or range limitations. Try creating automation routines in the Tuya App that repeat commands multiple times with short delays (e.g., open blind, wait 2 seconds, open blind again) to improve reliability.
