Product Overview
The VS1 sensor consists of two main parts: the larger main unit containing the electronics and battery, and a smaller magnetic component. When these two parts are separated (e.g., a door opens), the sensor detects the change in magnetic field and transmits the status. The compact and thin design allows for discreet placement on various surfaces.

Setup and Installation
1. Battery Installation
The VS1 sensor uses a CR2032 button battery. If not pre-installed, open the battery compartment on the main unit and insert the CR2032 battery with the positive (+) side facing up. Close the compartment securely.
2. Placement
Choose a clean, dry surface on your door, window, or cabinet frame. The main unit and the magnetic component should be mounted parallel to each other, with a maximum installation gap of 2 cm (approximately 0.8 inches) when the door/window is closed. Ensure both parts are aligned for accurate detection.
3. Mounting
Peel off the protective film from the 3M adhesive pads and firmly press them onto the back of both the main unit and the magnetic component. Attach the sensor parts to your desired location, ensuring they are securely fixed and within the recommended gap when closed.

4. HomeKit Integration
- Ensure your Apple Home Hub (Apple TV 4th Gen+ or HomePod) is set up and online.
- Open the Apple Home app on your iPhone or iPad.
- Tap the '+' icon in the top right corner and select 'Add Accessory'.
- Scan the HomeKit setup code located on the sensor or its packaging.
- Follow the on-screen prompts to name your sensor and assign it to a room.
Operating Instructions
Real-time Status and Notifications
Once integrated with Apple HomeKit, the VS1 sensor will provide real-time updates on its open/closed status within the Home app. You can configure notifications to be sent to your Apple devices (iPhone, Apple Watch) whenever the sensor's status changes. This allows you to monitor your home remotely, provided you have an Apple Home Hub set up.

Home Automation and Scenes
The VS1 sensor can act as a trigger for various HomeKit automations and scenes. For example:
- Automated Lighting: Set lights to turn on automatically when a door opens after sunset.
- Climate Control: Configure your smart thermostat to turn off the air conditioning if a window is opened.
- Security Alerts: Trigger an alarm or send a critical notification if a specific door or window opens unexpectedly.

Siri Integration
You can ask Siri for the current status of your VS1 sensor. For example, "Hey Siri, is the front door open?"
Maintenance
Battery Replacement
The VS1 sensor boasts ultra-low power consumption, providing up to 6 months of battery life under normal usage. When the battery level is low, you will receive a notification in the Home app. To replace the battery, open the battery compartment on the main unit and swap the old CR2032 battery with a new one, ensuring correct polarity.
Cleaning
Wipe the sensor with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use liquid cleaners or abrasive materials, as they may damage the device.
Troubleshooting
- Sensor Not Responding/Offline:
Ensure the sensor is within range of your Apple Home Hub. Check the battery level in the Home app and replace if necessary. Try restarting your Apple Home Hub. - Notifications Not Received:
Verify that notifications are enabled for the sensor in the Apple Home app settings. Ensure your Apple Home Hub is online and functioning correctly. Check your device's notification settings. - Inaccurate Open/Closed Status:
Check the alignment and gap between the main unit and the magnetic component. The gap should not exceed 2 cm when closed. Ensure both parts are securely mounted and not shifting. - Difficulty Pairing with HomeKit:
Ensure your iPhone/iPad is close to the sensor during the pairing process. Double-check that you are scanning the correct HomeKit setup code. If issues persist, try resetting the sensor (refer to the VOCOlinc app or support for specific reset instructions if available).
