4. Product Overview
4.1 BSIDE S10 Smart Digital Multimeter
The BSIDE S10 is an intelligent auto-ranging multimeter designed for ease of use. It features a large EBTN color display that shows test values, analog bars, and frequency simultaneously. Key functions include automatic testing of AC/DC voltage, resistance, continuity, frequency, and battery. Side buttons allow for capacitance, diode, and duty cycle measurements. It also includes non-contact voltage detection (NCV) and a bright LED flashlight.

4.2 BSIDE X1 Voltage Detector Pen
The BSIDE X1 is a versatile voltage detector pen with an EBTN LCD screen displaying test results, analog bars, and frequency. It features adjustable NCV sensitivity for precise identification of complex lines or safer detection of embedded wires. An 8-LED indicator in 3 colors helps differentiate voltage intensity. It can identify live/neutral wires and locate break points. It also performs automatic AC/DC voltage, resistance, frequency, and continuity tests.

5. Setup
5.1 Battery Installation
Both the BSIDE S10 Multimeter and BSIDE X1 Voltage Detector Pen require 2x AAA batteries for operation. To install:
- Locate the battery compartment cover on the back of the device.
- Use a screwdriver to open the cover.
- Insert 2x AAA batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-).
- Replace the battery compartment cover and secure it with the screw.
5.2 Connecting Test Leads (for BSIDE S10)
For most measurements with the BSIDE S10, you will need to connect the test leads:
- Insert the red test lead into the INPUT jack.
- Insert the black test lead into the COM (common) jack.
6. Operating Instructions
Both devices default to intelligent auto-ranging mode upon power-on, simplifying measurements.
6.1 BSIDE S10 Smart Digital Multimeter
To power on/off, press and hold the power button. The S10 automatically detects the measurement type (AC/DC voltage, resistance, continuity, frequency, battery) in smart mode. Use the side buttons to access specific functions like capacitance, diode, and duty cycle.

Figure 6: Measuring AC Voltage with BSIDE S10.
Voltage Measurement (AC/DC)
In smart mode, connect the test leads across the circuit or component to measure voltage. The device will automatically detect AC or DC voltage and display the reading along with frequency for AC measurements.
Resistance Measurement
In smart mode, connect the test leads across the resistor. The S10 will display the resistance value in Ohms (Ω), Kilo-ohms (kΩ), or Mega-ohms (MΩ).
Continuity Test
In smart mode, touch the test leads to the two points you want to check for continuity. A continuous beep indicates a complete circuit (low resistance).
Diode Test
Use the side button to select diode test mode. Connect the red lead to the anode and the black lead to the cathode of the diode. The forward voltage drop will be displayed.
Capacitance Measurement
Use the side button to select capacitance mode. Connect the test leads to the capacitor terminals. The capacitance value will be displayed in Farads (F), microfarads (µF), or nanofarads (nF).
Frequency Measurement
In smart mode, when measuring AC voltage, the frequency will also be displayed. For dedicated frequency measurement, use the appropriate mode if available via side buttons.
NCV (Non-Contact Voltage) Detection
The S10 features NCV detection. Bring the top of the multimeter close to a live wire or electrical outlet. The device will indicate the presence of AC voltage without physical contact.
Live Wire Detection
Using a single test lead (typically the red one), the S10 can identify live wires. The display will show "LIVE" and indicate the presence of live voltage.
6.2 BSIDE X1 Voltage Detector Pen
To power on/off, press the red power button. The X1 also defaults to auto-ranging mode. Use the blue button to adjust NCV sensitivity or switch between functions.

Figure 7: NCV Detection with BSIDE X1.

Figure 8: Measuring AC Voltage with BSIDE X1.
NCV (Non-Contact Voltage) Detection
Bring the tip of the X1 close to a wire or outlet. The device will beep and the LED indicators will light up, with more LEDs indicating higher voltage intensity. Press the blue button to switch between high and low sensitivity modes.
Live/Neutral Wire Identification
Insert the tip of the X1 into an outlet slot. The live wire will trigger a stronger indication (more LEDs, faster beeping) compared to the neutral wire.
Break Point Location
Run the X1 along an insulated wire. The NCV detection will stop at the point where the wire is broken.
Flashlight Function
Both devices are equipped with an LED flashlight for illumination in dark working conditions. Refer to the device-specific instructions for activating the flashlight.

7. Maintenance
To ensure long-term performance and accuracy of your devices:
- Cleaning: Wipe the devices with a dry, soft cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Battery Replacement: Replace batteries when the low battery indicator appears on the display. Refer to Section 5.1 for battery installation instructions.
- Storage: Store the devices in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. If storing for extended periods, remove the batteries to prevent leakage.
- Calibration: Accuracy is typically maintained for one year. For professional use, periodic calibration may be required.
8. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your BSIDE S10+X1 kit, refer to the following common problems and solutions:
- Device does not power on: Check battery installation and ensure batteries are not depleted. Replace if necessary.
- No reading or "OL" (Overload) displayed: Ensure test leads are properly connected and making good contact with the circuit. Verify that the measurement range is appropriate for the value being measured (though auto-ranging should handle most cases).
- Inaccurate readings: Check battery level. Ensure the device is used within specified environmental conditions (temperature, humidity).
- NCV/Live detection is inconsistent: Adjust NCV sensitivity using the blue button on the BSIDE X1. Ensure there are no strong electromagnetic fields interfering with the measurement.
