Setup

Before beginning assembly, ensure all components are present:
- 1 x Battery-powered Steam Locomotive
- 1 x Tender
- 1 x Gondola with 3 x Crate Loads (removable)

Battery Installation
The locomotive requires (6) C Cell Batteries (not included). The remote control typically requires (3) AAA batteries (not included). Adult assembly is required for battery installation.
- Locate the battery compartment on the underside of the locomotive and the remote control.
- Using a Phillips head screwdriver, open the battery compartment cover.
- Insert the required batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-).
- Replace the battery compartment cover and secure with the screw.
Track Assembly
The set includes 24 curved and 8 straight plastic track pieces. These pieces connect easily to form various layouts. The exclusive track system allows for three different configurations:
- 73.2 x 50 inch Oval
- 47.75 inch Circle
- 53 x 53 inch Rounded Square
Connect the track pieces firmly on a flat, stable surface. Ensure all connections are secure to prevent derailments.

Connecting Train Cars
The train cars feature fixed knuckle couplers for easy and secure attachment. Simply align the couplers and push them together until they click into place.

Adding Water for Smoke Effects
To activate the water vapor smoke effect, use the provided water bottle dropper to carefully add a small amount of clean water into the designated opening on the locomotive's smokestack. Do not overfill.

Operating Instructions
Powering On
Turn on the locomotive using the 3-position switch located on the top of the engine. Turn on the remote control (if using) by sliding its ON/OFF switch.
Control Modes
- Conventional Mode: Use the included remote control to operate the train. The remote allows for forward/reverse movement and activation of sounds.
- Bluetooth Control: Download the Lionel LionChief® Plus app (or similar compatible app) from your device's app store. Connect to the train via Bluetooth for advanced control, including speed adjustments, sound activation, and custom announcements.
