Setup
Battery Installation
The VTech Kidi Star Drum Pad requires 4 AA batteries. Batteries are included for demonstration purposes only. New batteries are recommended for regular use.
- Locate the battery compartment on the underside of the drum pad.
- Using a screwdriver, open the battery compartment cover.
- Insert 4 new AA batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-).
- Replace the battery compartment cover and secure it with the screw.
Cymbal Adjustment
The cymbals on the drum pad can be adjusted for optimal play or folded for storage.

- To position for play, gently rotate the cymbals outwards until they are in the desired position.
- For storage, fold the cymbals inwards towards the main unit.
Operating Instructions
Power On/Off
Press the red power button located on the control panel to turn the drum pad on or off.
Volume Control
Adjust the red volume knob on the control panel to increase or decrease the sound output.
Drum Styles and Sounds
The drum pad offers 20 different drum styles, including rock, marching band, metal, and jazz. Use the 'Drum Style' buttons to cycle through the available options.
Music Tracks
Play along with over 30 built-in songs. Use the 'Music Tracks' buttons to select and play different songs.
Bluetooth and Audio Connection
Connect to external music sources:
- Bluetooth Wireless Technology: Activate Bluetooth mode on the drum pad and pair with your device to play along with your own music.
- Line-in Audio: Use an audio cable (not included) to connect an external music player to the drum pad's line-in jack.
Listen through the built-in speaker or connect headphones (not included) to the headphone jack for private play.

Recording and Replay
Record your drum performances and play them back:
- Press the 'Rec' button to start recording your drumming.
- Press the 'Replay' button to listen to your recorded performance.

Engage with interactive features to enhance your drumming skills:
- Games: The drum pad includes three games, such as 'Chase the Light', where you follow light-up drum pads and cymbals to repeat beats.
- Coach Mode: Utilize the 'Coach' mode to learn about beats, fills, and rhythm.
- Tips: Access helpful drumming tips through the 'Tips' button.
Light Effects
The drum pads and cymbals feature dynamic light effects that respond to play and game modes.

Maintenance
- Keep the drum pad clean by wiping it with a soft, dry cloth.

Troubleshooting
No Power / Device Not Turning On
- Check if the batteries are correctly installed with the proper polarity.
- Replace old or depleted batteries with new AA batteries.
- Ensure the power button is pressed firmly.
No Sound / Low Volume
- Adjust the volume knob to increase the sound level.
- Ensure no headphones are plugged in if you intend to use the built-in speaker.
- Check battery levels and replace if necessary.
