6. Operating Instructions

To operate the Micnaron Electric Mosquito Zapper:

  1. Ensure the unit is properly set up and plugged into a power outlet.
  2. Locate the ON/OFF switch on the top of the unit.
  3. Flip the switch to the 'ON' position. The UV bulbs will illuminate, and the high-voltage grid will become active.
  4. To turn off the unit, flip the switch to the 'OFF' position.

For optimal results, operate the zapper in a dark environment, as UV light is more effective at attracting insects when there are no competing light sources.

7. Maintenance and Cleaning

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and effectiveness of your zapper.

7.1 Cleaning the Insect Collection Tray

  1. ALWAYS UNPLUG THE UNIT FROM THE POWER OUTLET BEFORE CLEANING.
  2. Gently pull out the detachable tray located at the bottom of the unit.
  3. Empty the collected insects into a waste bin.
  4. Wipe the tray clean with a damp cloth or rinse with water. Ensure the tray is completely dry before reinserting.
  5. Slide the tray back into its position until it clicks securely.

7.2 Cleaning the High-Voltage Grid

WARNING: Ensure the unit has been unplugged for at least one hour before attempting to clean the grid to allow any residual electrical charge to dissipate.

  1. After unplugging and waiting, use a small, non-metallic brush (e.g., an old toothbrush) to gently brush away any insect debris from the high-voltage grid.
  2. Do not use water or cleaning solutions directly on the grid.

7.3 Bulb Replacement

The unit comes with two replacement bulbs. Bulbs may need replacement after extended use (typically 2000-3000 hours).

WARNING: Always unplug the unit and wait at least one hour before replacing bulbs.

  1. Unplug the zapper from the power outlet.
  2. Wait for at least one hour to ensure no residual charge remains.
  3. Unscrew the outer protective grid. This usually involves small screws on the sides or top/bottom.
  4. Carefully remove the old UV bulb by gently twisting and pulling it from its sockets.
  5. Insert a new 10W T8 UV bulb into the sockets, ensuring it is seated firmly.
  6. Reattach the outer protective grid and secure it with screws.
