5. Operating Your RC Truck

5.1. Basic Controls

  • Throttle Trigger: Pull to move forward, push to brake/reverse.
  • Steering Wheel: Turn left or right to steer the vehicle.
  • Trim Dials: Adjust steering and throttle trim if the vehicle does not drive straight or stops when the trigger is neutral.

5.2. Driving Tips for Rock Crawling

  • Slow and Steady: The SCX24 is designed for precision crawling. Use slow, controlled throttle inputs.
  • Line Choice: Observe the terrain and plan your path. Look for lines that allow the tires to grip effectively.
  • Weight Transfer: Use subtle throttle and steering inputs to shift the vehicle's weight, aiding in traction and preventing rollovers.
  • Obstacle Approach: Approach obstacles at an angle to allow individual wheels to climb, rather than hitting head-on.

6. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and performance of your Axial SCX24.

6.1. Post-Run Checks

  • Cleanliness: Remove dirt, dust, and debris from the chassis, suspension, and drivetrain using a soft brush or compressed air.
  • Fasteners: Check all screws and nuts for tightness. Re-tighten as necessary.
  • Moving Parts: Ensure all suspension components, steering linkages, and drivetrain parts move freely without binding.
  • Tires: Inspect tires for damage and ensure they are securely mounted.

6.2. Lubrication and Component Inspection

Periodically lubricate moving metal-on-metal parts, such as universal joints and worm gears, with appropriate RC-safe lubricant. Avoid over-lubrication, which can attract dirt. Regularly inspect the motor and other drivetrain components for wear or damage.
