1. Introduction

This manual provides instructions for the installation, operation, and maintenance of the Lithonia Lighting BGR ALO SWW2 MVOLT PER DNA M2 (Gray) and BGS P1 40K 120 PE DDB M2 (Dark Bronze) Outdoor LED Security Lights. These fixtures are designed for illuminating large outdoor areas such as yards, farms, pathways, and doorways, offering energy-efficient lighting with integrated photocells for automatic dusk-to-dawn operation.

The BGR ALO SWW2 MVOLT PER DNA M2 model features Adjustable Lumen Output (ALO) and Switchable White (SWW) technology, allowing customization of brightness and color temperature. The BGS P1 40K 120 PE DDB M2 model provides reliable 4000K illumination with an adjustable photocell.

2. Safety Information

3. Setup and Installation

3.1 Mounting the Fixture

• Select a suitable mounting location that provides adequate illumination and allows for proper wiring.
• Securely attach the mounting arm or bracket to the desired surface (wall, pole, or mast arm) using appropriate hardware (not included).

3.2 Electrical Connection

• Connect the fixture's wiring to the main power supply according to local electrical codes.

3.3 Photocell Installation/Adjustment

Both models include a photocell for dusk-to-dawn operation. Ensure the photocell is unobstructed and not exposed to artificial light sources that could interfere with its function.

• BGR Model: Features a traditional twist-lock photocell. Install it into the receptacle on the fixture.
• BGS Model: Features an adjustable photocell. Position it to optimize dusk-to-dawn sensing.

4. Operating Instructions

Once installed and powered, the security lights will operate automatically based on ambient light conditions.

4.1 Automatic Dusk-to-Dawn Operation

The integrated photocell detects ambient light levels. The fixture will automatically turn on at dusk and turn off at dawn, providing continuous illumination during nighttime hours.

4.2 BGR Model: Adjustable Lumen Output (ALO) and Switchable White (SWW)

The BGR ALO SWW2 MVOLT PER DNA M2 model allows for customization of light output and color temperature. Switches located on the fixture enable these adjustments.

• Adjustable Lumen Output (ALO): Select between Low, Medium, or High brightness settings to suit your illumination needs.
• Switchable White (SWW): Choose from 3000K (Warm White), 4000K (Cool White), or 5000K (Daylight) color temperatures.

Adjust these settings before final installation or during initial setup to achieve the desired lighting effect.

5. Maintenance

These LED security lights are designed for long-term, low-maintenance operation.

• Cleaning: Periodically clean the exterior of the fixture and the lens with a soft, damp cloth to remove dirt, dust, and debris. Do not use abrasive cleaners, solvents, or high-pressure water, as these can damage the finish or internal components.
• Lamp Replacement: The integrated LEDs are long-life and do not require lamp replacement. Do not attempt to open the sealed LED compartment.
• Inspection: Annually inspect the mounting hardware and electrical connections for any signs of wear, corrosion, or loosening. Tighten as necessary.

6. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your security light, refer to the following troubleshooting steps:

• Light does not turn on:
  • Check the circuit breaker to ensure power is supplied to the fixture.
  • Verify all electrical connections are secure.
  • Ensure the photocell is not obstructed by debris, paint, or other objects.
  • Confirm it is dark enough for the photocell to activate.
• Light stays on during daylight:
  • Check if the photocell is exposed to artificial light sources (e.g., another light fixture, street light) that might prevent it from sensing daylight.
  • Ensure the photocell is clean and free from obstructions.
  • For the BGS model, adjust the photocell's position if necessary.
• Light flickers or dims:
  • Check for loose wiring connections.
  • Ensure the power supply is stable and within the fixture's specified voltage range.
