4. Product Overview
The JIAN BOLAND A5 Time Clock features a compact design with an LCD screen, keypad, fingerprint sensor, and RFID reader.

5. Setup
5.1 Initial Power On and Basic Settings
- Connect the power adapter to the device and plug it into a power outlet.
- The device will power on and display the main interface.
- Access the menu by pressing the M key.
- Navigate using the arrow keys (▲, ▼) and confirm selections with OK.
- Set the correct date and time in the system settings. The device supports automatic Daylight Savings and 12/24 hour format.
5.2 Employee Registration
Employees can be registered using fingerprint, RFID card, or PIN.

5.2.1 Registering Fingerprints
- From the main menu, select "User Management" then "Register User".
- Enter a unique Employee ID.
- Select "Fingerprint" as the registration method.
- Follow the on-screen prompts to place the employee's finger on the sensor multiple times until registration is complete.
- Ensure the fingerprint is clean and dry for optimal registration.

5.2.2 Registering RFID Cards
- From the "User Management" menu, select "Register User".
- Enter a unique Employee ID.
- Select "Card" as the registration method.
- Swipe the RFID card over the designated swipe zone on the device. The device will confirm successful registration.
5.2.3 Registering PINs
- From the "User Management" menu, select "Register User".
- Enter a unique Employee ID.
- Select "PIN" as the registration method.
- Enter a 4-6 digit PIN and confirm it. Instruct employees to remember their PIN.
5.3 Data Transfer Setup (USB)
The device uses a USB flash drive for data upload and download, eliminating the need for Wi-Fi or network connectivity.

- Insert the provided USB flash drive into the U Disk Interface on the side of the time clock.
- From the main menu, navigate to "Data Management".
- To upload employee information (e.g., from an Excel template), select "Upload Data".
- To download attendance records, select "Download Report". The device will automatically generate an Excel report on the USB drive.
- Remove the USB drive and open the Excel file on a computer for review and further processing.
6. Operating Instructions
6.1 Punching In/Out
Employees can punch in or out using their registered fingerprint, RFID card, or PIN. The device provides voice prompts for successful verification.
- Fingerprint: Place a registered finger firmly on the fingerprint sensor.
- RFID Card: Swipe a registered RFID card over the swipe zone.
- PIN: Enter the registered PIN using the keypad and press OK.
The device will display "Verified, Thank you" upon successful authentication.
6.2 Generating Attendance Reports
- Insert the USB flash drive into the time clock.
- Navigate to "Data Management" in the menu.
- Select "Download Report".
- Choose the desired pay period (weekly, biweekly, semimonthly, or monthly).
- The device will save an Excel file to the USB drive containing attendance data and calculated working hours.
- Remove the USB drive and open the Excel file on a computer for review and further processing.
7. Maintenance
7.1 Cleaning the Device
- Wipe the LCD screen and device surface with a soft, dry cloth.
- For the fingerprint sensor, use a lint-free cloth lightly dampened with isopropyl alcohol if necessary, ensuring no liquid enters the device.
- Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
7.2 Data Backup
Regularly download attendance reports to your computer via USB to ensure data backup and prevent loss.
