5. Setup and Installation

5.1 Mounting the Radio

  1. Select a suitable location in your vehicle that allows for easy access to controls and clear visibility of the display, without obstructing driving.
  2. Use the provided mounting bracket as a template to mark drilling locations.
  3. Drill pilot holes and secure the mounting bracket using the supplied screws.
  4. Slide the radio unit into the bracket and secure it with the side knobs.

5.2 Power Connection

The AT-500M II features a built-in 12V/24V converter, allowing direct connection to most vehicle electrical systems.

  1. Connect the red wire of the power cord to the positive (+) terminal of your vehicle's power source (e.g., battery or fuse box).
  2. Connect the black wire of the power cord to the negative (-) terminal or a suitable ground point on the vehicle chassis.
  3. Ensure connections are secure and properly insulated to prevent short circuits.

5.3 Antenna Connection

A properly installed and tuned CB antenna is crucial for optimal performance.

  1. Connect your CB antenna's coaxial cable to the Antenna Jack on the back of the radio unit.
  2. Ensure the antenna is correctly installed and tuned for the CB frequency band (26.965-27.405 MHz) to achieve a low Standing Wave Ratio (SWR). High SWR can damage the radio.

5.4 Microphone Connection

Plug the microphone connector into the Microphone Plug on the front panel of the radio.

6. Operating Instructions
