Important Safety Information

Setup

Initial Cleaning

  3. For the coffee maker, wash the carafe and brew basket in warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly.
  4. Run two full cycles of plain water through the coffee maker without coffee grounds to clean the internal components.

Placement

Place both appliances on a stable, flat, heat-resistant surface, away from flammable materials like curtains or walls. Ensure adequate ventilation around the appliances.

Power Connection

Plug the power cords into a standard 120V AC electrical outlet. Do not use extension cords unless absolutely necessary and ensure they are rated for the appliance's wattage.

Operating Instructions

BLACK+DECKER 4-Slice Toaster

  1. Load Bread: Place up to four slices of bread, bagels, or other items into the extra-wide toasting slots.
  2. Select Shade: Use the shade selector knobs (one for each pair of slots) to choose your desired browning level from 1 (lightest) to 7 (darkest).
  3. Lower Lever: Push down the toast lever until it locks into place. The toasting cycle will begin.
  4. Special Functions:
    • Press the Bagel button for toasting bagels (toasts the cut side and warms the other).
    • Press the Frozen button for frozen items (extends toasting time).
    • Press the Cancel button at any time to stop the toasting cycle and eject the items.
  5. Retrieve Toast: Once the cycle is complete, the toast will automatically pop up. Use the high-lift lever to raise smaller items for easier retrieval.

BLACK+DECKER 12-Cup Programmable Coffee Maker

  1. Fill Water Reservoir: Open the reservoir lid and fill with fresh, cold water to the desired 12-cup mark using the water level indicator.
  2. Add Coffee Grounds: Place a standard basket-style paper filter into the brew basket. Add the desired amount of ground coffee.
  3. Place Carafe: Ensure the empty carafe is placed on the 'Keep Hot' plate.
  4. Brew Immediately: Press the ON/OFF button to start brewing.
  5. Program Auto Brew:
    • Press the PROG button. The clock will flash.
    • Use the HOUR and MIN buttons to set the desired brew time.
    • Press PROG again to confirm. The AUTO indicator will illuminate.
    • Press ON/OFF to activate the auto brew function.
  6. Select Brew Strength: Press the STRONG button for a bolder coffee flavor.
  7. 1-4 Cup Option: For brewing smaller batches (1-4 cups), press the 1-4 CUP button to optimize the brewing process.

Maintenance

Cleaning the Toaster

  1. Unplug and Cool: Always unplug the toaster and allow it to cool completely before cleaning.
  2. Empty Crumb Trays: Pull out the slide-out crumb trays located at the bottom of the toaster. Discard crumbs and wipe the trays clean with a damp cloth. Reinsert the trays.
  3. Exterior Cleaning: Wipe the exterior surfaces with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or scouring pads.

Cleaning the Coffee Maker

  1. Unplug and Cool: Unplug the coffee maker and allow it to cool completely before cleaning.
  2. Wash Removable Parts: The carafe, carafe lid, and brew basket are top-rack dishwasher safe or can be washed by hand in warm, soapy water.
  3. Exterior Cleaning: Wipe the exterior surfaces, including the control panel, with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners.
  4. Descaling: Over time, mineral deposits can build up in your coffee maker. To descale, fill the water reservoir with equal parts white vinegar and water. Place an empty paper filter in the brew basket and place the empty carafe on the 'Keep Hot' plate. Brew half of the solution, then turn off the coffee maker and let it soak for at least 15 minutes. Turn it back on and brew the remaining solution. Run two full cycles of clean water through the coffee maker to rinse. Repeat monthly or as needed.
