Geberit Type 333 Side-Entry Float Valve Instruction Manual

Model: 136.705.00.3

1. Introduction

This manual provides detailed instructions for the installation, operation, and maintenance of your Geberit Type 333 Side-Entry Float Valve. Please read these instructions carefully before installation and keep them for future reference. This float valve is designed for use in cisterns with a side water supply connection.

2. Safety Information

  • Always shut off the main water supply before beginning any installation or maintenance work.
  • Wear appropriate personal protective equipment, such as gloves and eye protection.
  • Ensure all connections are watertight to prevent leaks.
  • If you are unsure about any part of the installation process, consult a qualified plumber.
  • Do not use excessive force when tightening connections, as this may damage the valve or plumbing.

3. Package Contents

Verify that all components are present before starting the installation:

  • Geberit Type 333 Side-Entry Float Valve (1 unit)
  • 3/8" Brass Nipple (pre-attached or separate)
  • Sealing Washer(s)
  • Lock Nut

4. Setup and Installation

Follow these steps for proper installation:

  1. Prepare the Cistern:
    • Shut off the main water supply to the toilet.
    • Flush the toilet to empty the cistern.
    • Disconnect the existing water supply line from the old float valve (if replacing).
    • Remove the old float valve from the cistern.
  2. Install the New Float Valve:
    • Insert the Geberit Type 333 float valve into the side entry hole of the cistern from the inside. Ensure the brass nipple faces outwards.
    • Place a sealing washer onto the brass nipple from the outside of the cistern.
    • Thread the lock nut onto the brass nipple from the outside and hand-tighten it.
    • Using a wrench, carefully tighten the lock nut until snug. Do not overtighten.
  3. Connect Water Supply:
    • Connect the 3/8" water supply line to the brass nipple of the float valve.
    • Hand-tighten the connection, then use a wrench to gently tighten it further.
  4. Restore Water Supply and Test:
    • Slowly turn on the main water supply.
    • Check for any leaks around the connections. If leaks occur, tighten the connections slightly.
    • Allow the cistern to fill. The valve should stop the water flow automatically when the desired water level is reached.
    • Flush the toilet several times to ensure proper operation and check for leaks again.
  5. Adjust Water Level (if necessary):
    • The water level can typically be adjusted by rotating or sliding a mechanism on the float arm or body of the valve. Refer to the specific design of your Type 333 valve for exact adjustment method.
    • Adjust the water level to the manufacturer's recommended mark inside the cistern, or to a level that ensures efficient flushing without overflowing.

5. Operation

The Geberit Type 333 float valve operates automatically to maintain the water level in your toilet cistern. When the toilet is flushed, the water level drops, causing the float mechanism to open the valve and allow water to flow into the cistern. As the cistern fills, the float rises with the water level. Once the preset water level is reached, the float mechanism closes the valve, stopping the water flow. This ensures efficient and consistent refilling after each flush.

6. Maintenance

Regular maintenance helps ensure the longevity and proper functioning of your float valve:

  • Periodic Inspection: Annually inspect the valve for signs of wear, corrosion, or mineral buildup.
  • Cleaning: If the valve becomes sluggish or noisy, mineral deposits may be affecting its operation. Shut off the water supply, remove the valve, and gently clean any visible deposits using a soft brush and mild descaling solution. Rinse thoroughly before reinstallation.
  • Check for Leaks: Regularly check for any signs of water leakage around the valve or connections. Address any leaks promptly to prevent water waste and potential damage.

7. Troubleshooting

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
Cistern not filling or filling slowly
