3. Compatibility

The Avisontek 893MAX remote is compatible with most LiftMaster, Chamberlain, and Sears Craftsman garage door openers manufactured since 1993. Compatibility is determined by the color of the "Learn Button" on your garage door opener unit.

Compatible Learn Button Colors:

  • Purple Learn Button (2011-Present)
  • Red/Orange Learn Button (2005-2014)
  • Yellow Learn Button (1997-2005)
  • Green Learn Button (1993-1997)

Important Note: This remote is NOT compatible with Security+ 3.0 white learn buttons (produced in 2026 or later) or garage door openers that use DIP switches for programming.

4. Setup and Programming

Follow these steps to program your Avisontek 893MAX remote to your garage door opener:

  1. Locate the Learn Button: Find the "Learn Button" on your garage door opener unit. Note its color. This button is usually located on the back or side panel of the motor unit.
  2. Activate Remote Programming Mode: On the Avisontek remote, use the visor clip or a small pointed object to press the PROG button located on the back of the remote. The LED light on the remote will turn on, indicating it's in programming mode.
  3. Select Remote Button: Choose the button on the remote (1, 2, or 3) you wish to program. Press this button a specific number of times based on the color of your opener's learn button:
    • Purple Learn Button: Press 1 time
    • Red/Orange Learn Button: Press 2 times
    • Yellow Learn Button: Press 3 times
    • Green Learn Button: Press 4 times
    After pressing the chosen button the correct number of times, press any OTHER button on the remote to exit PROG mode.
  4. Initiate Opener Learning: On your garage door opener unit, press and immediately release the "Learn Button". The Learn LED on the opener will glow steadily for 30 seconds, indicating it is ready to receive a signal.
  5. Sync Remote with Opener: Within 30 seconds of pressing the opener's Learn Button, press and hold the same button on your Avisontek remote that you selected in Step 3. Release the remote button when you hear 2 clicks from the opener, or when the garage door moves. This indicates successful programming.

5. Operating Instructions

Once programmed, operating your garage door opener with the Avisontek 893MAX remote is simple:

  • Press the programmed button on the remote to open or close your garage door.
  • The remote offers an effective operating range of up to 164 feet (50 meters).
  • The remote utilizes rolling code technology for enhanced security, changing the access code with each use to prevent unauthorized access.

6. Maintenance

6.1 Battery Replacement

The Avisontek 893MAX remote uses a CR2032 lithium battery. When the remote's range decreases or the LED indicator light becomes dim, it's time to replace the battery.

  1. Locate the battery compartment on the back of the remote.
  2. Use a small screwdriver or coin to gently pry open the compartment.
  3. Remove the old CR2032 battery.
  4. Insert a new CR2032 battery with the positive (+) side facing up.
  5. Close the battery compartment securely.

6.2 Cleaning

Wipe the remote with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.

7. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your Avisontek 893MAX remote, refer to the following solutions:

Remote does not sync with opener.
  • Solution 1: Double-check the exact color of the learn button on your garage door opener. Ensure you pressed the remote button the correct number of times corresponding to the learn button color.
  • Solution 2: Make sure your garage door opener's memory is clear before starting programming. If programming failed, try moving closer to the garage door opener unit.
  • Solution 3: To clear the opener's memory, press and hold the learn button on the garage door opener for several seconds until the LED turns off. Then, re-program the remote following the steps in Section 4.
Remote range is reduced or inconsistent.
  • The battery may be low. Replace the CR2032 battery (refer to Section 6.1).
  • Interference from other electronic devices. Try operating from a different location.
Remote LED does not light up.
  • The battery may be completely drained or incorrectly installed. Replace the CR2032 battery.
