Setup
The Genmitsu 3018-PRO is designed for easier assembly with pre-positioned components. Follow these steps carefully for proper setup.
1. Assembly
Assemble the main frame components, ensuring all screws are securely fastened. The base height is raised to 4cm for improved stability. Refer to the included assembly diagram for detailed steps.

Figure 3: Proper use of wrenches to secure components during assembly or maintenance. Ensure all connections are firm but do not overtighten.
2. Connecting Electronics
Connect the stepper motors, spindle motor, and power adapter to the V2 CNC Control Board. Ensure all connections are firm and correctly oriented. The control board is housed in an ABS case with a fan for cooling.

3. Software Installation
The Genmitsu 3018-PRO uses GRBL, an open-source software for controlling movement. It runs on Arduino. Software like Carveco Maker Cam Design Software and Candle are included for controlling your machine and running Gcode design files. Install the necessary drivers and software on your computer as per the instructions provided on the included USB drive or manufacturer's website.
4. Offline Controller Setup
The included offline controller allows you to operate the machine without a computer connection. Connect it to the control board as instructed. This is useful for running pre-loaded G-code files.
Operating Instructions
This section outlines the basic steps for operating your Genmitsu CNC 3018-PRO.
1. Material Preparation
Secure your workpiece firmly to the aluminum profile workbed using the provided clamps. Ensure the material is flat and stable to prevent movement during operation. The machine is capable of cutting various materials including plastics, soft aluminum, woods, acrylics, PVCs, and PCBs.

2. Tool Installation (ER11 Collet)
Insert the appropriate carving bit into the ER11 collet and tighten it securely. Always ensure the bit is properly seated before starting any operation.
3. Software Operation (GRBL/Candle)
- Connect the CNC machine to your computer via USB (if not using the offline controller).
- Launch your GRBL control software (e.g., Candle).
- Load your G-code file.
- Set the origin (X, Y, Z zero points) for your workpiece.
- Initiate the carving/milling process. Monitor the machine closely during operation.
4. Using the Offline Controller
For standalone operation, transfer your G-code files to the offline controller's memory. Use the controller's interface to select and run files, and to manually jog the axes.

Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your CNC machine.
- Cleaning: After each use, clean the work area and machine components to remove dust and debris. Use a soft brush or compressed air.
- Lubrication: Periodically lubricate the lead screws and linear rails with appropriate machine oil to ensure smooth movement.
- Inspection: Regularly inspect all cables, connections, and moving parts for wear or damage. Replace any worn components promptly.
- Spindle Care: Ensure the spindle motor is free of debris and runs smoothly.

Troubleshooting
This section addresses common issues you might encounter and their potential solutions.
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Machine not responding | Loose cable connection, power issue, software not connected. | Check all power and USB connections. Ensure GRBL software is running and connected to the correct COM port. |
| Motors not moving smoothly or making grinding noises | Lack of lubrication, debris in rails/lead screws, loose motor mounts. | Clean and lubricate lead screws and rails. Check and tighten motor mounts. |
| Spindle not spinning | Power connection to spindle, faulty spindle motor, software command issue. | Verify spindle power connection. Check G-code for correct spindle commands (M3/M5). |
| Inaccurate carving/milling | Loose workpiece, worn bits, incorrect feed rates/depth of cut, loose belts/couplings. | Ensure workpiece is secure. Replace worn bits. Adjust feed rates/depth of cut in software. Check and tighten belts/couplings. |
