  • BASS, MIDDLE, TREBLE: 3-band equalizer for tone shaping.
  • COMP: Controls the amount of compression.
  • VOLUME: Adjusts the overall output volume.
  • PRE/POST Switch: Selects whether the 3-band EQ affects the signal before (PRE) or after (POST) the compression and overdrive stages.
  • LIFT/GND Switch: Ground lift for the XLR output to eliminate hum.
  • OVERDRIVE Footswitch: Engages/disengages the overdrive effect.
  • ON/OFF Footswitch: Engages/disengages the entire pedal (true bypass).

Connections:

  1. Connect your bass guitar to the INPUT jack (1/4 inch audio jack) on the right side of the pedal.
  2. Connect the OUTPUT jack (1/4 inch audio jack) on the left side of the pedal to your amplifier or other effects pedals.
  3. For direct recording or connecting to a PA system, use the XLR OUT balanced output.
  4. If experiencing hum when using the XLR output, toggle the LIFT/GND switch to lift the ground.

4. Operating Instructions

Basic Operation:

  1. Ensure the pedal is properly powered and connected.
  2. Press the ON/OFF footswitch to activate the pedal. The LED indicator will illuminate.
  3. Use the VOLUME knob to set the overall output level.

Compression:

The B Factory features a classic optical compression circuit. Adjust the COMP knob to control the amount of compression applied to your signal. This knob is independent of the BLEND knob, allowing for precise control over your compressed tone.

Overdrive:

Engage the overdrive effect by pressing the OVERDRIVE footswitch. The corresponding LED will light up. Use the DRIVE knob to adjust the intensity of the overdrive, ranging from subtle grit to heavy distortion. The BLEND knob allows you to mix the overdriven signal with your clean bass tone, preserving clarity and low-end punch.

3-Band EQ:

The BASS, MIDDLE, and TREBLE knobs provide a powerful 3-band equalizer to sculpt your tone. The PRE/POST switch determines where the EQ is applied in the signal chain:

  • PRE: The EQ affects the signal before the compression and overdrive. This is ideal for shaping the character of the signal entering the gain stages.
  • POST: The EQ affects the signal after the compression and overdrive. This is useful for final tone shaping and adjusting the overall output sound.

Buffer Bypass:

The B Factory features a specially designed buffer bypass circuit. This ensures that your signal remains pristine and unaffected when the pedal is disengaged, preventing tone loss over long cable runs or complex pedalboards.

5. Maintenance

To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your SONICAKE B Factory pedal, follow these maintenance guidelines:

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the pedal's surface. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents, which can damage the finish.
  • Storage: Store the pedal in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, extreme temperatures, and high humidity.
  • Power: Always disconnect the power supply when the pedal is not in use or during extended storage.
  • Handling: Avoid dropping the pedal or subjecting it to strong impacts.

6. Troubleshooting

If you encounter any issues with your B Factory pedal, refer to the following common troubleshooting steps:

  • No Sound:
    • Check all cable connections (input, output, power).
    • Ensure the power supply is correctly connected and is a 9V DC center-negative type.
    • Verify that your instrument and amplifier are working correctly.
    • Ensure the pedal's ON/OFF footswitch is engaged.
  • Humming/Noise:
    • Try using a different power outlet or power supply.
    • If using the XLR output, toggle the LIFT/GND switch to eliminate ground loop hum.
    • Check for faulty cables.
  • Weak or Distorted Sound (when not intended):
    • Check the VOLUME knob setting.
    • Adjust the DRIVE and COMP knobs to ensure they are not set too high if you desire a clean tone.
    • Ensure your instrument's output is not excessively high, potentially clipping the pedal's input.

If the issue persists, please contact SONICAKE customer support for further assistance.
