Operating Instructions

Brewing Espresso:

  1. Pre-heat Cups: Place your espresso cups on the cup warmer at the top of the machine.
  2. Prepare Portafilter:
    • Select the appropriate filter basket (single or double shot) and place it into the portafilter.
    • Add finely ground espresso coffee to the filter basket. For optimal results, use fresh, finely ground coffee.
    • Use the tamper (included) to press the coffee grounds firmly and evenly. Ensure the surface is level.
    • Wipe any excess coffee grounds from the rim of the portafilter.
  3. Attach Portafilter: Insert the portafilter into the group head and turn it firmly to the right until it is securely locked in place.
  4. Place Cup: Place your pre-heated espresso cup(s) under the portafilter spouts.
  5. Brew Espresso:
    • Press the 1-cup or 2-cup button depending on your desired serving size. The machine will automatically brew the espresso and stop when the pre-programmed volume is reached.

Frothing Milk:

  1. Prepare Milk: Fill a stainless steel frothing pitcher with cold milk (dairy or non-dairy) up to just below the spout.
  2. Activate Steam: Press the steam button. The light will flash as the machine heats up to steam temperature. Once the light is solid, the machine is ready.
  3. Purge Steam Wand: Position an empty cup under the steam wand. Turn the steam knob to release any condensed water until only steam comes out. Turn the knob back to the off position.
  4. Froth Milk:
    • Immerse the steam wand tip just below the surface of the milk in the pitcher.
    • Turn the steam knob to activate the steam.
    • Hold the pitcher at a slight angle and move it up and down gently to create foam. Listen for a gentle "tearing paper" sound.
    • Once the milk has doubled in volume and reached your desired temperature (around 140-150°F or 60-65°C), turn the steam knob to the off position and remove the pitcher.
  5. Clean Steam Wand: Immediately wipe the steam wand with a damp cloth to remove any milk residue. Run a quick burst of steam to clear any milk from inside the wand.

Maintenance

Daily Cleaning:

Descaling:

Descaling is essential to remove mineral buildup and maintain optimal machine performance. The frequency depends on water hardness and usage.

  1. Fill the water tank with a descaling solution (e.g., white vinegar diluted with water, or a commercial descaling agent according to product instructions).
  2. Place a large container under the group head and steam wand.
  3. Run several cycles of water through the group head and steam wand until the tank is empty.
  4. Rinse the water tank thoroughly and refill with fresh water.
  5. Run several cycles of fresh water through the machine to rinse out any remaining descaling solution.
