Bluetooth Pairing:
- Ensure the controller is powered on.
- On your device (computer, tablet, phone), enable Bluetooth and search for new devices.
- Select "SKY-MIDIER" from the list of available devices to pair.
- Once paired, the Bluetooth indicator on the controller will stabilize.
USB Connection:
- Connect the USB-C end of the cable to the controller and the USB-A end to your computer.
- The computer should automatically recognize the device as a MIDI input.
- Open your DAW or music software and select "SKY-MIDIER" as a MIDI input device.
Operating Modes
The summina BT MIDI Foot Controller features multiple operational modes, each designed for specific control applications. You can cycle through these modes by briefly pressing the central pedal switch while the device is on. The active mode is indicated by an illuminated LED.

Figure 9: The controller in 'Combo' mode, suitable for various guitar effector applications.
- Combo Mode (CC 20): This mode is versatile and often used for general MIDI control, such as triggering effects or changing presets in guitar effector applications.
- Momentary Mode (CC 24): In this mode, the MIDI message is sent only while the pedal is pressed down. Releasing the pedal stops the message. Ideal for momentary effects or sustain.
- Latch Mode (CC 25): Pressing the pedal once sends an "on" message, and pressing it again sends an "off" message. This acts as a toggle switch, useful for enabling/disabling effects or loops.
- Down/Up Mode (CC 32): This mode sends a MIDI message when the pedal is pressed down and a different message when it is released. It can be used for functions requiring distinct on/off signals, such as a sustain pedal (often mapped to CC 64).
Note on MIDI Control Change (CC) Numbers: The default CC numbers for these modes are provided above. Some software or applications may require remapping these CC numbers for specific functions (e.g., sustain pedal is typically CC 64). Refer to your software's MIDI mapping documentation for details on how to reconfigure these assignments.
Battery and Charging
The controller features a built-in rechargeable battery designed for long-lasting performance. It incorporates automatic shutdown and sleep modes to conserve power and extend battery life.
- Charging: Use the provided USB-C cable to charge the device. The battery indicator LED will show charging status.
- Automatic Shutdown: To conserve power, the device will automatically enter sleep mode or shut down after a period of inactivity.
- Disabling Auto-Off: If you require the device to remain active for extended periods without interaction, you can disable the auto-off feature. To do this, unplug the device (if connected via USB), then hold the central pedal switch while powering it on with the side button.
Maintenance
To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your summina BT MIDI Foot Controller, follow these maintenance guidelines:
- Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the exterior of the device. Avoid using abrasive cleaners, solvents, or harsh chemicals.
- Storage: Store the controller in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, extreme temperatures, and high humidity.
- Handling: Avoid dropping the device or subjecting it to strong impacts, as this may damage internal components.
- Battery Care: For long-term storage, it is recommended to charge the battery to approximately 50% every few months to maintain battery health.
Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your summina BT MIDI Foot Controller, please refer to the following common problems and solutions:
- Device does not power on:
- Ensure the battery is charged. Connect the device to a power source using the USB cable.
- Press and hold the central pedal switch for a few seconds to power on.
- Bluetooth connection issues:
- Make sure Bluetooth is enabled on your host device and the controller is within range.
- Ensure no other devices are actively connected to the controller.
- Try unpairing and re-pairing the device from your host device's Bluetooth settings.
- Restart both the controller and your host device.
- Device not recognized via USB on PC:
- Ensure the USB cable is securely connected to both the controller and the PC.
- Try a different USB port on your computer.
- Verify that your operating system and DAW software are up-to-date.
- Check your DAW's MIDI settings to ensure "SKY-MIDIER" is selected as an input device.
- On some systems, you may need to install generic USB MIDI drivers, though most modern OS should recognize it automatically.
- Controller automatically shuts off:
- The device has an automatic shutdown feature to conserve battery.
- To disable this, unplug the device (if connected via USB), then hold the central pedal switch while powering it on with the side button.
- MIDI messages are not triggering desired functions in software:
- Confirm the controller is in the correct operating mode (Combo, Momentary, Latch, Down/Up) for your intended function.
- Check your software's MIDI mapping settings. You may need to reassign the incoming Control Change (CC) messages (CC 20, 24, 25, 32) to the desired parameters in your DAW or effector application. For example, a sustain pedal function typically uses CC 64.
